Just when you thought it was safe to return to the Mayor's Parlour, here he is again, your own, your very own (because YOU clowns voted for him!) Neil 'Sniffer' Rix, about to appear in a tabloid near you over the weekend.
http://www.kentlive.news/dover-taxpayers-forced-to-upgrade-the-mayor-8217-s-car-because-his-other-one-is-8216-too-small-8217/story-30460427-detail/story.html
Why the Hell he cant he use his own 4 wheel drive Chelsea Tractor (complete with personalised number plates) and claim a few quid in mileage allowance, God only knows.
(At least if we see a BFG wearing a peaked cap parked up in a limmo in Snargate Street we'll know who he's waiting for!)

The "clowns" who voted for him as Mayor are his pals who happen to be fellow Councillors the rest of us are simply stuck with him whether we like it or not.
I think he is an embarrassment to Dover although his supporters on here will disagree as they have done several time previously.

You clearly haven't followed the "Money Tree" thread Bob when I raised this issue. In my humble opinion the need for a larger car is not driven by the height of the driver but the width of His Holiness the Mayor. Can't see why he needs a driver anyway unless he happens to be high on something.

Because Howard, a driver also highlights the importance of those conveyed in addition to "the make of vehicle should reflect the prestige and status of the mayoralty".
Personally, I thought that sort of thing would have died out in the fifties and surely a bit dated for this day and age? However, perhaps a better and cheaper solution would have been to engage a shorter chauffeur?
Apologies for that possible "heightism" remark though!

I'm not opposed to a bit of pomp and ceremony John as The cruise passengers love it when they see town councillors poncing around in their finery outside the town hall. The need for a car and chauffeur is another issue and needs to be addressed as the current Mayor, as stated, is in not in the financial position that he needs financial help to carry out his duties. Hopefully the driver will use the car to carry out other duties as have others in the past.

The question is whether it is more cost effective to get a smaller Mayor rather than a bigger car.

As I indicated above if YOU LOT had not seen fit to elect him as a councillor THEM LOT could not have made him mayor.

No one should be a councillor if they are not elected, far to easy to have your "friends" boost their number to get their own policies voted in.

Shameless - when you think Age Concern/Riverside Centre is crying out for a Mini-bus to transport our elderly, vulnerable older local people. To get a hot meal, and have some company during the day.
I notice Keith Samsun raised no objections.

Dual-purpose mini-bus; think you may have hit on something there!

Well like it or not, I am surprised at the personal comments on here about the Mayor, I believe they are rude and uncalled for. Mr Haddock, or whatever his name may be is calling us ALL clowns, is that nice? No!

Lewis, I defy you to give an example of one comment on this thread which is 'rude' never mind about 'uncalled for'.

I don't like being called a clown or reading about you calling someone 'Sniffer' or 'BFG'.
Simple. I will not reply to anything further you add, I am not going to get into it. Piece said!

Lewis some so called grownups never overcome their version of schoolboy humour.
I find it a shame that the Mayor has yet again made this town a laughing stock with the media.

I find it quite extraordinary that the Mayor doesn't understand the bad publicity that he is bringing to the town.
