Hello and Welcome to the new home for Doverforum. As you can see we have merged with Dover.Uk.Com to create an exciting new website..a website totally local, dedicated to Dover and surrounding areas. This is very exciting and once again a huge thanks to Chris Tutthill.
Why the change?
The reason for the change is that as of today I am no longer editor but am stepping down after a very long run. I am in my 65th year now and the old bones cant take the daily slog anymore..doing it everyday from 6am was getting too much. Some medical problems this year too and the advice was for me to stop. This was in june this year or a bit earlier.
The challenge then was to find a way to keep it all going so that all the regular forum contributors and large readership would not be let down, but would still have a natural home.
As many will know Chris Tutthill has worked with me behind the scenes for many years, my technical man at the coalface of the action, and he did a great job for us on Doverforum through thick and thin, kept us going through spammers and hackers and everything else.
As Chris was doing something similar to Doverforum with Dover.Uk.Com ..the natural path to evolution was a merger between the two. Chris has media in his bones, being the son of legendary local newspaperman Graham Tutthill. He is also a generation at least ( maybe more !!

) behind yours truly and knows about facebooks and twitters and so on..all these media developments seem to have passed me by, so you can see the time had come for something new.
But a few thankyous before I hang up my boots..
Thanks once again to Chris for all his help over the years and keeping us on air. I'm not terribly technical so without him we would have been gone long ago.
Thanks to to Colette Boland, we did all the coverage together since day one..all the events with pictures and so on..Remembrance Sunday, Mayor Making, Carnivals, Boxing Day dips, official engagements of all sorts...we did years of it, all as just volunteers of course.
Thanks to Howard McSweeney who has done a great job for us in recent times as Forum Editor and he will continue in that role, bringing us news and stories from around the town..he was a great help to me for sure.
Thanks to Barry Wadsworth-Smith who did the advertising for many years and kept us funded. Always important.
Jan Tranter who helped greatly behind the scenes in recent times with some vital contact information and so on.
Thanks hugely to all the forumites who contributed terrific stuff over the years..even recently we saw it on the Channel Dash thread if i can just pick one example out.
I will mention two forum stalwarts of the process who have been here since year dot...
Barry Williams who did/does a great blog and has always advertised (Regency IFA) which was vital when times were tough.
Keith Sansum who helped us financially when we were down and out, we got off the floor and are stilll here today..but now as of today in another guise.
Thanks again to everybody who supported the effort made.
It is now a new exciting website, I think it is great, so please all keep going on here, just like before.
PS: Ooops I better take down that avatar with The Boss on it now..its had a long run.
