The website for the event is now live and having managed to book WHPS a spot for the weekend, the spaces are nearly all already booked up !!

that needs to be brought up a few times, especially in the week prior - there wasn't a great turn out the last time due to lack of publicity.
i think i am talking of the same event.

That was something else Howard (can't remember what - think it was a careers event) but this one is usually very busy with people trying to win the free Saga cruise

there was a careers event flop but i seem to remember tony jayms saying that he attended a business event there and spent most of the day chatting with roger.
There was a business event in the Arc which I couldn't get to. Not awfully well promoted it has to be said.
Tweeted, facebooked and Linked In, will do the same nearer the time. Let's get people in!!!!

Yes indeed, the Travel and Tourism show at Cruise Terminal 2 has (all the years I've attended) been well supported.
I did spend some time at last year's show talking to Tony, Steve Davies (he then had the Prince Albert) and Richard Mahony - as well as lots of others too.
I thought the cruises were Fred Olsen's, rather than Saga's - always a long queue at the Fred Olsen stand.

I'm hoping to go tomorrow morning, but I did hear that today (Saturday) was "Group Travel" day, which would/could be a very important part of Dover being a tourist destination.
Oh well - there was no one from our tourist department there, as far as I am aware and there's always next year.

I went down today to represent WHPS. It was fairly quiet but today was traders only. Tomorrow over 3000 are expected. Even if the event does not interest, it is worth going down for the spectacular view of the cliff fall!

Do you know then Paul (Scotchie), Phil or Mandy, if it was a "Trade" day yesterday and mainly/only for Group Travel, was there any one "selling" this area from a group-travel, point of view ?
Surely for Dover to be a successful "destination" - Town or District, it needs someone leading it, co-ordinating meetings and discussions between the Hotels and the coach companies who organise the coach trips to destinations around the Country - doesn't it ? The Coach Tourism Council play a large part in this.
Advising them that (Council-owned) coach-parking is FREE around the District and have all the attractions there, showing themselves off would be great - or do those sites who can afford a stand, only attend ?
Is it expensive for a stand ? I can't imagine it's free, there's got to be a profit element for the organisers, for it to happen.

Very interesting to talk to the Dover Transport Museum people today (interesting to talk to all those I spoke to about tourism).
The Transport Museum are holding a 1940s weekend at the end of April where there'll be some great Military and civilian vehicles on display; I'll get some details put up as soon as I get them.
All the historic sites, museums and attractions here work so hard on their own sites, creating so much potential for Dover, but to me, it needs co-ordinating and pulling together to be really successful, creating a tourism destination where all sites would greatly benefit from an increase in visitors (and subsequent income).

Good to see you all today Chaps, I spoke to quite a few stall holders today including a lot of french companies and they were amazed at the hits DF has received, especially over such a small period of time. As Roger has mentioned Dover Transport Museum will be expanding their WWl weekend to incorporate WW2 with an extensive range of vehicles and enactors.
