  I have had it on good authority for over 5 weeks now that the line will re-open on 5th September - official announcement tomorrow

  The timetables on the South Eastern website show weekend services - though the press release did mention some Sunday closures for the first 3 or 4 weeks.

  Been looking on National Rail's and Southeasterns's booking engines and there are bus replacements every Saturday and Sunday until mid-November (which is as far ahead as I can look).

  Not such good news. That is not what the press release said but it's what I heard months ago. Still, at least we will soon have the line back .
  
  Is the loop service back in operation or has it been scrapped?
  
  EDIT: Just searched a sample journey on Monday 5 September, a.m. - Dover to Margate - and the most direct option takes 48 minutes with no changes. So the answer to my question seems to be "yes".

  Journey Planner does not seem to have been updated (it is loaded for 12 weeks ahead each week) but the new timetables are on the South Eastern website.

  Taken form National Rail Enquiries website:
  
  "Prior to the line re-opening, work on the track will be carried out right up until the day before (Sunday 4 September) so we recommend that you check before you travel on this route on Monday 5 September."
