don't forget you stood shoulder to shoulder with charlie over the hospital issue.

Reg, why do you seem to think that everyone who posts on here must have some sort of party allegiance, declared or otherwise? So many of your posts just make me want to put my fingers in my ears and shout la....la.....la.

Believe it or not Reg there are millions of people in this country who listen, read, examine and think and do not vote for the colour of the rosette and who could never be described as a Tory of any kind by any stretch of the imagination - how else do you think Govt ever changes hands?
Since when has basing an opinion on facts and truth and rejecting false and misleading information been the exclusive province of tories?

Excellent. Talk about ignoring things if they don't suit.
Methane drilling morphs inevitably into fracking which will turn your water flammable even if you've been able to set light to it since the thirties.
So I thought I'd check the websites of the local villages, and they have lost all credibility, and the sensationalism is going to let the exploration company walk straight in because there are no sensible objections.

Except the intervention from the Environment Agency, who are doing their job for a change.

that is how i see it barrie, objections have to be objective, complaining about fracking when it is not in the application will cut no ice with planning departments.

Nail hit squarely on head Barrie - Reckon Reg must be a closet COAG supporter the lengths he's gone to to mislead the public

Hi Howard:

I was otherwise engaged - evenings are not good for me and meetings additional to my pre-existing commitments to community, village and work.To date I remain unseduced by any particular colour of rosette.

For goodness sake what on earth is a closet? If it's a pejorative term used to describe what some perceive as right wingers not only is it the clumsiest name since clumsy names were invented it's just plain ridiculous.

'Closet' is a pejorative used by Reg to classify anyone who thinks for themselves and is non-tribal (in a political sense). Which closet Reg ascribes to them depends on the context of the thread, but mostly the closet will be a Tory or a UKIP one.

Notwithstanding all that did anyone manage to watch those links I posted up? It'd be interesting to read people's comments on them. The trouble is that the film Gaslands has been cited time and time again as evidence put forward by those opposed to any methane extraction. The film has been discredited on so many different levels but many people are not aware of this fact so public opinion is being influenced by some distinctly dodgy propaganda.

Hi Philip, I'd seen the videos before when researching the subject, but took a refresher look at them from your links. They give a better reasoned and supported account of the reality of fracking but are also, I'm afraid, not objective as they are sponsored/funded by the industry. However, having said that, our issues here are very different:
1) We are not fracking here
2) We have prior experience and objective data of aquifer contamination (which we also know, from objective data, is NOT irreversible) during the coal mining era.
What we need from COAG is a really detailed account of how they are going to seal the bores and prevent a new contamination of the ground water - because the only real issue here is to prevent the same errors of contamination of ground water that occurred over near 90 years of coal mining.
My personal view is that the test bore at Tilmanstone, sitting as it does right on top of the filled back mine shafts, presents a negligible risk for new contamination, but that the other two test bores may present a greater risk, so we really need the detail from COAG.
