Colin - nice pics
It has been a bit of a mare trying to walk to and from the station on a daily basis with all that wok going on, especially when it is wet, makes a right mess of ones suit and shoes.

The word on the street is that it's the best green liquor out of the Old Kent Road and the jellied eels are not too bad either

No probs John. Thanks Ross, and yes it is a right mess. Hopefully they won`t be too long completing it. Nice meeting JHG yesterday, and he said you`d been through the Priory. Our path`s may cross another time, along with other`s on here.

Glad to see the road-works nearly finished and the traffic-lights gone.
It must be a pain for staff and users of the station while all this is going on, but will I'm sure be worth it in the end.
The station itself inside and out, needs some work; the last time it was painted it looked awful even after just a short time, so the walls need water-proofing to stop the damp coming back.

So do I Sue, and one`s with plenty of leaf growth, as we have the contract to run the track machine`s dropping Sandite to prevent wheel slip on passenger trains, caused by falling leaves.

I must briefly mention that when I went up the station that day, I took a sentimental walk afterwards along Clarendon, Westbury, down to the Elms Vale junction and back down Folkestone Road to town. I was impressed by alot of building work and home improvement`s going on, and generally making it look quite an attractive road again, a far cry from that immigrant invasion a few years back. Nice (B&B?) building with brand new leaded windows put in, near Belgrave Road, (a popular forumite location), looked really attractive. Have they had money given to them, or have they all just decided to do their places up, or is there nothing in it?

you must have been in a sentimental mood colin, clarendon place is an eyesore for the most part.
dodgy landlords taking rent for substandard accommodation, some very dangerous.
westbury road is nice enough in the main because it is the same families there that have been resident for many years.

Used to be a nice chip shop along Clarendon in the 50s Howard, always looked forward to Saturday`s. As mentioned before, I was born up Westbury Road, where the future UKIP candidate lived. Young sister went to Belgrave school.

Folkestone Road has had/is having a lot of work done on many buildings, mostly flat conversions like the old number 85 "Guest House", the Mildmay Hotel or the old WERU building and some new builds like the old Webbs Hotel.
My concern is who lives in these premises, they start off looking good, but if rented, they usually end up looking like slums again with the gardens uncared for and sofas, beds mattresses and fridge freezers in the front garden or even out on the pathway.
