Dover pride
- 14 February 2011 20:0392618The main visible "work" done by DP is their "art instillations" which pay fairly large sums of money to bring artists in from other parts of the country, and Europe, to do poorly received and sometimes insulting concepts. The White Cliffs Creative Guild and the London Road Community Forum have shown that local groups can and do produce better work and are better at doing instillations that improve the town. How is that Dover Pride to bring in artists from Manchester to depict Dover?Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

The worst I saw was, as near as I recall, some illuminated displays of someone eating in the street by a German artist who came over for a day and went away with that impression of Dover - wow!

DAD, Dover Arts Development was founded in January 2006 to initiate and deliver high quality contemporary art projects in Dover and Dover District. DAD incorporated in April 2008 as a company limited by guarantee and uses DAD as its business name. Its co-directors Joanna Jones and Clare Smith see DAD as an extension of their individual arts practices and as a developing creative structure.
