We do have a number of supporters on here and im sure some will respond in time, but for my own view()and shared by some other supporters)
dover did take a drabbing last week and struggled at crabble
but to have a club doing well, and of course people behind it helps that much more.
gates usually around the 1,000 mark have dropped off to 7-800 or less some weeks.
dover has always had a good fans base both home and away(one of the best supported away non league clubs) but of course every fan wants its town's club to win every week.
The chair of the club has clear ambition for the club to get into the football league, but of course ambition and reality are 2 very different things.
for me i will support dover at whatever level they play, some fans are saying dover maybe has reached it's level, but other more ambitious fans feel the club can get to a higher level.
of course getting to a higher level means players higher wages, and of course the consideration of some or all of the players becoming full time and the costs this involved.
let's see what tonight brings, and the rest of the season, and get behind the manager/chair and club.

Increased gate receipts may give the club more scope to 'encourage' the players to contemplate professionalism? If making up for last week is not enough in itself to drive the team on to better things.
I look forward to the glowing reports tomorrow.

Onwards and upwards Keith, you watch a lot of bad games to get a really good one and the buzz of that keeps you coming back for more. We do have a lot of fickle fans who turn on the players and board when we have a bad day but make no mistake they want to win as much as the most avid supporters, I am really looking forward to tonight as always.

looking at some of the gates in the conference i don't see why dover would struggle there.
the important thing is not to get carried away and start thinking about going full time with the players.
i think in future even league 2 will go part time, the gap between the haves and have nots is ever widening.
much better for clubs to take a hit performance wise than go to the wall altogether.

1 HOUR 45 MINS TO KICK OFF (7 45)
See you all there
the question of full time players,
quite a number of the clubs in the conference hjave had to go fullt time
to comnpete(on the fitness level alone
is something to consider.
whether that be a few full timers, or the lot and the costs are important.
but the club is on a good financial footing, and we will have to see how it developes

yes martin;
think they have reached there level.
without a big cash injection or different style of play they may fluke the play offs
purely because chelmsford slip up
but its in other teams hands sadly
dover played ok up until hampton scored but hampton were not a good side, had 2 or 3 good players.
these high balls when the keeper over 6 foot wasted
and the amount of times dover gave the ball away
the best player was the dover sub who came on probably cos he was fresh
crowd sadly will be poor saturday at crabble

There were no overpopulation problems at Crabble tonight, that's for sure.
A shortish interview with Nicky Forster for the website TV service will be available.
I fear for our club at the moment - there was very little singing and the whole atmosphere seemed so subdued on and off the pitch.
If we have decided we cannot cope with the higher level and gates keep dropping, there is only one way the club will go - down.

ANDREW;
Think if i'm honest the club has lost it';s way, the chair a fine chap thought he could buy his way to higher leagues, but that doesn't always work.
watching dover last night there were a number o-f players there to make the number up.
Not sure there are any local players any more which in itself causes problem,s with pride for the club.
without doubt dover played avaragely well up till they scored, from that time on they struggled.they looked a very avarage side.
dover fans like any other only want a winning side, but 500 or so have stuck by the club.
think the club needs to air there views in a room and the manager says play for the club or go.
club also needs to decide if it has reached it's level, and if not how they will finance the future.

Surely the easiest time to promote the club is when it is on the threshold of better things? Can no 'fan-fare' be made over the time before the next home game? A meet-and-greet evening, a march through the town?
This is where the idea of truely local television would come into it's own, but there is/are local radio.

The whole feelgood factor has gone, the Jolly Boys seem to have been at odds with the Board for most of the season. There is an imbalanced squad, far too many forwards ( most of whom do not score) next to no midfield players and five defenders for four positions. We should never have started the season with Martin Hayes, we have been playing catch up ever since, his replacement has no knowledge of our level of football and it shows, having said that I will be there Saturday hoping that we can start putting things right.
