I was pleased to see Age Concern were awarded a cup.The weather held up and a good turn out of people at the River end.
It was lovely! Particularly thrilling for the kids was the departure of the fire engine on a shout just as it reached the Louis!!!! And wasn't the weather kind?!

A big Thank You to David and Linda - a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and then to watch what was a very good carnival - much better floats this year, especially good to see the Ramada float and the senior people there - Trevor and Michelle, even one of the chefs was on the float.
Good to have the Dover Express meet the people - they met those in Castle Street anyway.
A very enjoyable time - drinking chatting and eating - lovely curry Jean !
Finished off with a couple in Blakes, so not far to walk.
Thanks again everyone.

Great afternoon/evening, Thanks David & Linda.
What a wonderful atmosphere with the band playing, both in back, and again in the front while waiting for the procession to arrive....

Thanks Roger, yesterday was a fab day all the Staff entered into the Spirit of Carnival and worked their socks off on that float. All the Staff involved gave up their time voluntarily to do Carnival and we had a ball, great team work!
And didnt Miss Dover rock, this was my first year involved in Carnival, the work involved is enormous and I have to hand it to all , Mandie, Terri, Tracey and Jenn and all the ex-court members who turned up to help on the day especially Louise and Amy and not forgetting Nanna Mary and Natascha's mum, I was mighty proud to be apart of it all.
Love Michelle.

I have just surfaced after attending Linda and Davids superb soiree.Thankyou.The food the booze and the company were all great and complimented each other for a most enjoyable afternoon.
The band added to the carnival atomsphere and played with nothing more than beer and curry to keep them sustained..poor devils.
Roger and his Dover Loyalty Scheme were silenced as he munched his way through 2 platefuls of Jeans lovely curry.
BarryW left his politics at home but did bring his lovely wife Alison who really came to life when the Beach Boys and Abba were being blasted out from Davids computer.
Barry W-S and Colette rushed over from another celebration...well that was Barrys excuse for being so thirsty.
Guzzler was on parade but we were thankfully saved by from his exploits in Crimea by Humph who dragged him to one side to check that he had fed the dogs before leaving home.PaulB and Jan Tranter looking very cosy in the summer sunshine.
All of this was made possible by Mandie and her team organizing a super carnival day.Gishan,Michelle and all the staff at the Ramada Hotel who made such a positive contribution to Dovers special day.
Marites's feet are killing her.....she didn't realise how long the carnival procession was.
But finally just a big thankyou to everyone involved.

David and Linda, Thank you for a wonderful afternoon spent soaking up the sun, not to mention the fine wine, food and great company. The band in the garden was a great idea, we really enjoyed ourselves, a perfect day to complement the carnival , the floats were superb. We finished off the evening in The White Horse with congenial hosts Jack and Jill and another glass or two.

To be honest I do not think many care whether it is on or not, the days of our interesting large carnival went quite a few years ago. I recently saw an appeal on FB for participants not that long ago.

You may well be right Jan but you'd think that the District Council, being the body that authorised the roads to be closed, would then say something about the matter on their website, rather than leaving it to Kent Highways. Given that we're paying two councils to say nothing, perhaps there is an argument for combining them - that way we would pay just the once.
