On 16th August I reported dumped bucket of fish remains infested with maggots that you could smell from a mile off dumped in the yard at the bottom of the Grand Shaft. I was told by DDC that it would be removed we had it open to the public that weekend.
Sunday 19th we opened up and it was still there, so we bagged it up best we could but it was absolutely disgusting having festered well over the warmest weekend of the year
I went down there on 23rd August and it was still there and I phoned DDC and told it was going to be sorted and I would receive a phonecall from the Waste Manager.
28th August it is still there and I am still awaiting a phonecall.... not impressed....

The green thing to do would have been to dump it in the harbour.
the fish would have a party

That is disgusting, knowing how rotting fish can smell. Anybody up there with a car who has lost their sense of smell who could take it up to the DDC offices I am sure they would appreciate such a lovely aroma.

Sadly, Jan's idea, whilst highlighting the issue would result in a £1k fine. But then who are the culprits, DDC or Veolia?
PaulW's heading of "disappointing" was very mild, I would have used a stronger term.

I was not suggesting leaving the fish there just carrying it while making the necessary 'enquiries' why it had not been collected by DDC as previously arranged.

In that case Jan I can only re-iterate Brian's comment! Actually I should have said iterate but never mind.

I too am disapointed with DDC.
I asked them to cut the grass and make good the dropped curbed entrance area's, on the greens at Aylesham, nothing was done.
Kent Miners Festival were charged for the use of these greens, surely it is reasonable to expect them to be in a good and safe condition, as many of our visitors are elderly and disabled?

Maybe time to get the local councillors involved.
Gary, how about asking for your money back citing H&S for the elderly and disabled, worth a try I suppose

Who have you been talking to Paul ? Paul Jaconelli ?

You can not blame the D.D.C. FOR ALL THE RUBBISH that is lieing around not only is it there it is around the streets,of couse it is the kind of PUBLIC that Dover is geting and moving in and living here now not all like it in fact most are like our selfs clean up behind us take anything home and put it in the bin if we do not use it,the law is a ass on this kind of thing,so we are where we are.
