17:4670325Alexander old chap, has it passed by your radar of information that, thanks to the Labour Party our country is fiscally bankrupt?
As a result, things have to go and/or change, preferably sooner or later.
Personally, I would rather the unemployed be shipped out and keep the Ghurkas who at least, for the most part, have a strong work ethic.

I'd rather have a country that was financially bankrupt by protecting its citizens jobs than a country that was rich but morally bankrupt by disregarding its working population.
I rather like that...slaps self on back..as no-one else will.. but still in bad mood following yet another visit today to the hospital ...urgh

17:5870333Sorry to hear you've had a bad day. Hopefully better ones will follow.
Interesting view you propose though Marek, it leads to one question from me.
Q. How does a financially bankrupt country actually protect its citizens whn it has no money to do so and cannot borrow any more from other sources?
A. Devalue currency (usual Labour method)? Print more money (Zimbabwe method)? or something else?

The Yanks are up in the trillions of debt but are trying to get the nation back to work by improving their infra-structure blast Hitler did similar and very successfully before the war but it wouldn't harm getting the can't work won't work earning their crust by getting them back to work on public projects.

18:0970338Marek - the fact is the UK cannot keep adding to the deficit, full stop - it must be dealt with as soon as possible. to say otherwise is reminiecent of the flat earth society (yes, they existed as recently as the 1970's and, incidentally, were based in Dover!)

13:2771112Sid, do I take it that you would have the police who will become unemployed shipped out of this Country? They are British citizens! What about the people who are about to be laid off at P&O Dover head-quarters? Would you have them shipped out to? And where would you ship British unemployed citizens to, Sid?

15:3571326Sid, you probably blinked and missed your post 41 on this thread, hence my question who the unemployed people are you would personally ship out of this Country. The context of my post to which you reply in post 41 is about British citizens being made redundant and a big outcry to prevent the Gurkhas being made redundant, but no outcry to prevent British workers, including many Police members, being sent home to unemployment.
Then you state that you would personally would have the unemployed shipped out, but not the Gurkhas. I take it you refer to unemployed British citizens as those who should be shipped out, but a clarification on your part could resolve the possibility of misinterpretation.

16:5671339Think you need to read the posting again Alexander, I was stating a preference, not offering to personally ship anyone out of anywhere.

17:5571348Interesting thread this one.
The crunch has not hit yet, although the mood music in this thread reads differently.
An analysis based on Canadian and Swedish experiences says you tell the public it is going to hurt, then do it.
Not announce the figures and six months later the public are waiting for government to tell you how and what.
Many feel they are experiencing the crunch! But it is yet to happen.
Food for thought tactically.

18:1871349with you totally paul, this water torture is so unfair on those who will lose their jobs and everyone else suffering cuts and tax rises.
instead of asking the departments to look for savings the chancellor should have said "here is your annual dosh less 25% now get on with it".

We spoke recently about the in fighting within the tories, an its looking clear that Osbourne and IDS dont want to work together or even be in the same room together and cameron had to stop IDS resigning.
Idon't know osbourne that well, but IDS seems to have some good ideas and he doesnt usually get out of his pram.
Now we are hearing Fox is also thinking of resigning over defence
today we also heard on the other part of the cobbled together govt the lib dems conference and clegg stating how many divided issues the lib dems have with the tories
how they will square that circle wlll be interesting

18:2171591all rather confusing keith, i understood that the blues and yellows were going to agree not to stand seperate candidates in certain seats in 2015, nick today stated categorically that they would contest each and every seat.
later lord ashcroft will issue a scathingly critical statement of why the blue failed to get a majority at the last election.
sound like he is planning to take his ball home, more importantly his money also.

07:0671638Keith - you just carry on mate. Nothing like exaggerating differences to try to create the impression you want to give.
Yes, there are certainly differences between individuals and bigger ones between the Parties but it has a long way to go to get anywhere near the open warfare that existed between Blair and Brown, they lasted about 10 years so 4/5 years should be a doddle for the coalition.
