15:3173297I'm aware that there's an event in the King's Hall tomorrow night but as with the Market Square there's no advertising for it.

17:2273320There will be a folk group in the morning, Youth Theatre doing enactments of Dickens scenes about two and a parade at about four. All those who wish to dress up and take part are welcome. Should add that these girls have been going around winning awards for Dover all year, including court of the day in Hornsey and getting a personal greeting from the mayor of Sandwich at their carnival.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

12:3373393CHRIS;
I reaise this must be difficult for you as you supported the other carnival before, and now support the original carnival.
Is there any chance of there being just one Dover carnival???

12:4973394Awfully sorry but having been brought up in Bridgwater I have found the local Carnivals in Kent rather sad spectacles.
Here's a short promotional film of what a real carnival can look like:-

14:1473398 A colourful scene in the Market Square this morning, but I thought a disappointing turnout of citizen`s. The Market itself is certainly dwindling in number of stalls from what I observe. On a personal note, I would`ve thought it better to go for a Dicken`s festival in a bigger way, and maybe December would have been a better time? Lots of publicity beforehand as well.

14:1973399 One of our popular folk groups were playing well as usual. The name`s gone again, but on the extreme left with a yellow bag is Joyce, with her tambourine, while on the other end with his squeeze box is husband Colin. Well done to all of them, and a bit of sunshine as well.

15:2273406And the band played on. Excellent music from the Old Lone Gin Band all morning while the Dover Youth Theatre are performing extracts from Oliver and other Dickens scenes as I type. The parade is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
Keith, if only but too many stubborn heads and outside influences at the moment. It was good to see both (or is it two of...?) Dover Courts representing the town at the Sandwich carnival and at least the girls got on great. By the way, I support my girls in what they want to do as any father should.

Thank you Jeanette, and I`ve just done a bit of editing above. I shall have to tread carefully next time I see Joyce. Thanks for the band name Chris, not an easy one to remember.

19:0473427Colin - I can picture a "Dickens Victorian Market" in the Market Square at Christmas - could be very atmospheric. And may be more successful then.
