normally d.h.b. meetings are open to the public paul, wondering why this one wasn't.
20 people is a very small number, i assume they used a smaller room there.

Extraordinary if true. There is no requirement for T2 for many years to come, if ever. Why would roadworks be taking place so far in advance of something which, in all likelihood, will never happen anyway?

Howard I'm not sure if you're being naïve or just digging.
The Port like everyone else has the right to invite who they choose for a specific reason

neither david i have been to a few meetings at the ark and they were open to all.
surely for 20 people they wouldn't need to hire a meeting room when there must be a conference/boardroom at harbour house that could have utilised?

Howard and I have each come across the latest news and posted it on two different threads this morning.
I hadn't seen your post, Howard, on the UKIP thread, which preceded mine on this thread by about an hour.
But, as this DHB meeting thread mentions Neil in post 1 (hopefully Neil will look in and fill us in with what went on), it is questionable whether Neil will keep us informed on the DHB meeting, as he hasn't revealed 2 weeks ago after the Nigel Farage conference that UKIP's leader is openly supporting DPPT and believes the Dover Port (which is DHB) not to be a good choice.
So if we now have Labour's Claire and Charlie of the Conservatives and UKIP's leader all campaigning for the "people's port", that will leave us to see what 10 Downing Street has to say about this latest development.
Personally I can't see the Government abandoning Dover Harbour Board, in fact Gov. has fully endorsed DHB.
This may explain Neil's defection to UKIP.
There could be interesting developments if the "people's port" becomes a UKIP hit in a future election campaign, with Farage openly campaigning for it and campaigning against the Port of Dover (DHB).

Howard, 20 people attended, who knows how many were invited? Perhaps they booked the room having invited 100, I know 2 people who were invited but didn't show up.

Alex, it would be wrong to assume that Neil has "defected" to UKIP.
You really mustn't make baseless accusations like that. Neil can and does speak for himself but just because he, or indeed anybody else, attends a meeting doesn't mean he has "defected".
For all you know Neil attacked Farage.
Incidentally Neil won't mind me saying he wasn't invited yesterday

Howard, the meeting was called to set up DHB Community Forum.
It was not the Port Consultative meeting.

lighten up david, alex was being tongue in cheek, everyone knows that neil keeps out of party politics for very good reasons.
thanks for that last line, had messaged both charlie and neil in the last few minutes asking whether they had been invited.

with you now paul so by setting up they must be planning to have regular meetings.
the community port failed we will have to see whether the community forum fares better.

not sure what message DHB was attempting, but looks like through its invites it failed at the first hurdle.
Alexander
Not surprisingly you have it wrong again
im sure Neil can speak for himself, but im sure he would not wish to be associated with a political party,
It could also be said that Farrage is making his usual publicity stunt, where has he been while Charlie/claim campaigned for the peoples port? Excuse my pun, but I think Farrage has missed the boat lol.

A question for Keith and Howard:
Who should DHB have invited?

If they were looking for a 100
use community leaders, councils, business's anyone of influence, MP's members of the public
that would be a start

The councils were represented.
My point is you have no idea who was invited and who declined and what PoD wanted to achieve.

I have had interesting talks with two senior DHB people in the last week at two open invitation events, none of the moaners on here attended either event!

What point are you making Keith.
You don't know who was invited or who DHB wanted there, they can invite who they want

There's more to it, you know.
Nigel Farage expressed support for p/p and expressly for Charlie MP too.
This leaves us to assume a future alliance between Charlie and Farage, especially if the latter is to stand in South Thanet and not Dover and Deal.

interesting that although you didn't bother to vote for them, you turn threads into a UKIP thread
Obviously it would be of interest to Charlie to have as many people as possible supporting the peoples port
including late comer Farrage
if I was Charlie I would be asking Farrage, where have you been?
