I notice the new Thanet Parkway station is nearing completion. Considering the eye watering cost of rail fares and the scarcity of well paid workers prepared to commute anymore do our local councils know something the rest of the world doesn't?

They can tell you what to do
But they'll make a fool of you
And it's all right, baby it's all right
There's a city in my mind
Come along and take that ride
And it's all right, baby it's all right
And it's very far away
But it's growing day by day
And it's all right, baby it's all right

On the plus side, they are planting 10,000 trees to offset the carbon!
I'd be happy with the trees and existing traffic infrastructure improvement, not these wonderful buses that won't be used.
Why it's called Dover Fast track I have no idea, it should be called Whitfield fast track!
Although I'm not looking forward to increased council tax when it fails and DDC have to keep it running, I'm looking forward to telling the DDC Muppets "I told you so"......

Artist's impression of KCC's latest proposals to replace Whitfield Roundabout with fly-over. New Dover Fast Track bridge over A2 shown running bottom left to top right.

If you don't like it, they simply take it off you! Just walked the Roman Road to Guston and back along Dover Road. Nothing really going on apart from lots of little yellow flags stuck in the ground, a few workmen sitting having a cup of tea and a couple of blokes in high-viz looking at a map.
The history books will not make DDC and KCC look very good over this, but then the people making lots of money on this white elephant will be long gone when that history is written.

I have said it before but the millions and millions that have been spent on these Dover white elephants could have built an amazing town if anyone in power had spent a few seconds listening to the people that actually live here.

A quick public internet search on Companies House shows that the CEO of City Court Developments has to run a big "correspondence address" so I suppose they need the money...
It also looks like they are stuck out in beautiful countryside and could do with a Fast track route themselves!

It's such a shame that the people who live here and know their surroundings always get treated with contempt and very often labeled as NIMBYs who are just whining. This town has so much to offer and the people with the power and money to make it a great town are more interested in feathering their own nest. I'm sure if any of the council members (both executive and elected) were going to have something built that would ruin where they lived, they'd simply not do it.
