I have just seen the picture posted by DDC on FB how very low key.
Obviously our DDC bunch of scruffy looking numpties did not consider this an important historic event.

A lot of people giving their views on the DDC FB page about the invite only… a lot are not happy…

Over in Thanet the Proclamation was read in public outdoors at Birchington, Margate and Ramsgate. Although I have no DDC pedigree I should have liked to have heard it at first-hand, so to speak; as it is, I feel embarrassed that this is the best Dover, Deal and Sandwich could do. To put it another way, any councillor currently on the Council needs to come off it.

The invitation to attend the reading of the Proclamation came through at 2.45pm on Friday. It was only inviting the Chair of the Parish council to attend the council chambers on Sunday for 3pm reading. Don’t know who else was invited.

I too feel embarrassed .This would not have happened under Paul Watkins watch. He and I had an unwritten agreement I did the ceremonial and he did the Leadership.Yesterdays perfomance call it what you like would not have been handled in that way.Community always came first with me.Paul would have given the guidance as to how it should be done.I think we could have sung then Anthem with out a backing tape which sadly broke down. Then not to be able to follow it live well words fail me.

Apparently there was a proper ceremony in front of the town council offices with mayors from the Cinque Ports and other towns - unfortunately I didn't know about that one.

Apparently nor did anyone else! I would have gone. I suppose it was low key so as to not to interrupt the traffic.

I doubt it as long as whoever made this disastrous decision is involved.
The trouble is they all think they are very important unlike the rest of us so they will continue to make bad choices.
