Why is DDC holding the Proclamation in secret? Other towns are proclaiming to the public in public places!
From the BBC;
Dover: District Council offices in Whitfield at 15:00 (by invitation only. To be broadcast on council's website)

Only DDC can do that out of all of the councils listed… only interested in themselves. Could of done it from Pencester band stand so more people could attend…

Exactly. Town Hall steps is the traditional place for such announcements or even their latest version of the Market Square!

A snub to the ordinary people of Dover, Deal and Sandwich, unless the last two are making it in view of the public.
The original idea of the Proclamation was to inform all the whole population of the area not just the invited select few.

Their advisors have got it so wrong.Bad mistake.Would not have happened in my time.invite only absolutely disgusting.The Chairman could have stood near the Town Hall.or Outside the Musuem Maybe.I recall the Queens visit as I was there.on that day .
It was a beautiful occasion the Queen wore a lovely shade of pink.

Us peasants should come together, gather up our pitchforks and flaming torches, and lay siege to Fort Whitfield. Perhaps then the "good" Burghers of our town will listen to us.

Just a had reply. Apparently there are to many organisations involved and over a 100 invites have gone out and these invites will be enough to fill the council chambers
Definitely got it totally wrong.

I note that the new and 'improved' Market Square was 'to create a modern and welcoming focal point for residents and visitors alike' and to 'provide space to host events'.
A bit of a mist opportunity?

You didn't miss much apart from the national anthem cutting out half way through, to be finished a cappella style after an awkward pause.
Meanwhile I had a lovely photo from a friend of a big crowd at Tonbridge Castle, showing how it could have been done.

Unfortunately us peasants of Dover don't get a look in on such things. I took myself up to London yesterday, and at 8am, was able get right up to the gates of Buckingham Palace, visited green Park and then spent a lovely morning in The Mall and met the King after his proclamation when he stopped to meet his people.
What makes DDC think they are so important they can't see "their" people? Oh that's right, they don't care! The one chance they had to get this right and they messed it up.
