I guess it's Labour's job to find fault, but the affect these new parking-charges will have on most people, is very, very small.
They can always find headlines to make out of anything, it's whether their headlines mean very much to the average man in the street.

You could always cover your car in advertising and park in the Market Square for free

what an excellent and innovative idea ray.
have you considered suggesting it to the business roadshow people, it might be a goer?

The main thing to remember about car-park charges is that have to raise income and be fair.
• Charges at the two most used car parks in the district at Stembrook in Dover and Middle Street in Deal have been frozen
• Charges at the three lower rate car parks in the district at Gazen Salts in Sandwich, Union Road in Deal and Albany Place in Dover also remain the same
• On-street charges remain the same - except on Dover Seafront and Beach Street, Deal where rates reflect that in adjacent car parks
• DDC continues to operate a number of free car parks across the district.
I believe the above, do just that.

Bern, I was following on from Reg's post, well done getting the blue badge we get a lot of holders parking outside the shop.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Funny thing is, even with a blue badge I am loathe to just park anywhere! It feels wrong.......
But it is helpful if I can find a legitimate "bay", otherwise I wouldn't be able to get into town at all, never mind back! But I try to be responsible and not abuse it!!

My mother always used to find ordinary bays with her blue badge until I pointed out that by doing so she might actually be depriving able-bodied drivers of somewhere to park.

Those are my thoughts Peter, which makes me feel better about using the proper "bays"!
