22:1881061Yes Ross I did get selected for Tower Hamlets, and I do what I can,but I am lucky because it is the best ward in Dover,in my opinion.

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

00:1581066Paul,
Perhaps it's time to quit the LGA?
http://conservativehome.blogs.com/localgovernment/2010/11/a-dozen-councils-give-the-lga-notice-to-quit.html
£50,000 p.a. seems a little much to pay. Personally any membership of voluntary professional bodies has come out of my own pocket (though claimed against income tax).
Much the same goes for the ACPO (association of Chief Police Officers). Why we are paying for the opportunity for senior Plods to dust off their dinner jackets on a regular basis is beyond me. Plus the fact that the Home Office are so reticent about providing information makes me even more suspicious! ACPO is unaccountable to Parliament or the public by virtue of its limited company status (and therefore not subject to FOI requests).

12:4881119Not at all Howard, any Cllrs should believe the ward they serve is the best otherwise they perhaps shouldn't be in that ward.I do believe I am lucky to be given Tower Hamlets it is where my children grew up and it is in the centre of town, and because there is really only one way in and one way out there is a village feel to it.
Everyone I know that lives/lived in Tower Hamlets normally only has good things to say about it.My Mum and Stepfather, daughter, cousin, and aunties live there and I am active in the ward at the School and various other places so yes I am proud to be asked to stand there! It has nothing to do with vote catching although I will stand on my record.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

16:0181160Under consideration Bob, I gave notice at recent Council meeting that this needed careful consideration.
We are not paying £50k more like less than a third of that.
Still a big sum though.
Analysis of benefits being reviewed and where or if we need the service they provide and at how much by alternative sources?
