Why can't they drive to Whitfield People use Park and ride in Canterbury.I beg to differ the roads are too narrow having lived here for forty five years over sixteen in Lyndhurst Road and a further twelve years next to the football ground I think I know what I'm talking about .I also have to walk a lot and use buses .I donot have a car.You see a lot from buses.Crabble Lane is very narrow and is Lower Road River.I would not complain only it is a fact of life .Grown men who cannot walk. park on the corners obstructing the view.

One side of Lewisham rd should be converted to angled parking at least as far as the end of the rec. and club officials should control dangerous parking, I have to agree I don't see park and ride working for dovorians, most would drive within 200 yards of the ground on the way to the car park.

There are some good views being made of course when you get to these average gates there is a need to see how situations can be resolved.
I have to say though it's no different to far bigger clubs, around grounds.
But I'm sure the club would welcome views to try to find solutions.

Well Sue, I'm sure you know what you're talking about.
I can't believe people in Canterbury drive out of Canterbury to get a bus into Canterbury.
Lower Road may be narrow in parts, but the upper part of Crabble Lane, I'm not so sure. You are right about man (and women) who park on yellow lines. Mainly that's people abusing their blue badges. Fans can park where they like as long as it is legal.
Yesterday for some reason there were 3 police cars at the ground (I only saw 2 policemen), all it need for them to bring some cones to stop parking around tight junctions and the narrowest roads. Then traffic wardens to dish out tickets to anyone illegally parked.

I know Sue but parking nose to the kerb can double the number of parking spaces, won't solve the problem but will help.
The only other solution (to park and ride) would be residents permits which residents would not want.

You can imagine the issues but it's no different bigger clubs don't seem to solve these either around there grounds.
This is a successful club one we should be proud of, and one that hopefully wants to work with the community.

Sorry chaps I know I'm like a dog with a bone but having canvassed all parts of River for over thirty years I know the patch very well .Karlos top of Crabble Lane very tight as Ridgeway comes out onto the small track leading up to St Radigunds it's a blind junction. There are many houses in that area and the only way out is to access Crabble Lane which gets blocked. .A. Fire Engine would just shift they card but not an Ambulance.
