There is only one County Division which covers .Dover Town currently represented by Cllr Collor Conservative and Cllr Gordon Cowan Labour .Bryan Cope represents Dover West which covers all villages as far away as Capel.
David the role of a CountyMember is completely different to a District Councillor different budgets and areas of responsibility .

Really?
You mention Capel, it will have at least 4 councillors assigned to it - what on earth do these people do, they can't all open the Village Fete

I have visted many parish councils in the District there are 32

Agree........local government needs root and branch restructure...........No need for KCC and all East Kent District Councils
....just one East Kent Council with much reduced number of Councillors..........

The one bit thing I fail to understand is why we need so many parish/town councillors for any area. They have less to do with financial or planning matters than either District or County, in fact they seem to be pretty powerless about anything that is of real importance to the area.
As an example on something that affects the whole town, apart from being vocal how have they impacted on the DITZ (non)development.

Having been on the Town Council ,you are right we pay about £600.000+per year for them and the srevice. Is that good or bad you tell me?My way of thinking is a NO but again that is just the way I see it.

So when you were elected Vic it was alright for you to spend part of that Budget, then you cant get elected and you want to get rid of it,sour grapes?
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Post 32. Not so.
Time has moved on from 2002 we did not have the hard times we have now. Cuts are being made all over in all councils and at this is time £600.000+ is a big saving the town council have some very good staff ,but they could do away with its Town clark making a saving of over 49000 per year, there is already a person that could fill her place already on the staff ,but that is to late now because the council would have to still pay her if my thinking is right I could be wrong. But they do not have to make cuts like the District council, they just tell the District they need so much each year and up to now they get it but that might be cap next year, but still alot of money they will get.

Well the debate has gone on and i remain that we have to many councils/cllrs
but i would prefer to see decisions being made as local as possible
so give town councils more powers
and reduce those of kcc/ddc
and get rid of kcc and escalate the work downwards
