whilst cameron and the cobbled together govt stumble at every turn, we have a crisis looming.
this whole saga from a party who said they would be squeaky clean and not getting involved in hoo ha shouting all came to nothing

You can see it there in the link Keith - nothing more need be said, he exposed the sheer hypocrisy and cant of Labour and thoroughly demolished them.

The Tories worked hard at smoke screening yesterday but surely being funded by the unions is a different issue to the problem at hand. Party funding is one thing, but the episode as seen by the Sunday Times footage showed a different thing altogether...buying favours..access to the supreme in-crowd in incremental scale, the more you paid the more you got.
Maude did a robust defence in The House but he was talking about something different in every response. The discussion was about a horse but he insisted in talking about a zebra.
Dennis Skinner once again came out with the best one..
"..why isnt the Prime Minister here today to answer questions?? are we not paying him enough...!! "
ba boom

It is exactly the same PaulB - the Unions buy their influence over Labour policy.
It is just as corrupt and pernicious as anyone else buying influence. Recently over the temporary relaxation of the Sunday Trading laws for the Olympics the government tried to get cross party agreement but Labour said their position will be determined by the Unions. Sheer corruption.

At least they are open about it, Barry. Everyone knows the unions dictate policy under a Labour government, right down to the last detail. If you want to know who is calling the shots now, you have to dig for the information.
Just a small point: as the Liberal tail is wagging the coalition dog, wouldn't it be both cheaper and more effective to bribe them? Sorry, I meant donate.

Maude was left high and dry by Cameron, it should have been him there taking the questions. Maude 's response was certainly angry but he never actually answered anything that was put to him, a very shoddy response.

It is indeed a severe error of judgement to take it upon oneself to issue a press statement outside the house then delegate responsibility to answer questions on the floor of the house.
The greatest insult to even our present weak-kneed democracy is the fact that Cruddas is a Non-Dom for tax purposes.
