fully agree about pcso's been given more powers, we have an excellent one locally.
spotted him a few mornings ago with a colleague checking out an alleyway, looks like the opening credits to "the bill".

We're working on the next Clarendon Alley clean-up and will do the one at the top of Glen Grove on Big Clean-up day.

What a stupid idea, he won't get my vote.
So next time a group of drunken louts wake us up at 3 a.m. I ( as a 64 year old grand-dad ) am supposed to go and talk to them nicely.
What we need is a proper Police FORCE ( not service) instead of the poor imitation we seem to have been landed with now.

Laura Joins Police Crime Commissioner Candidate on The Campaign Trail
****************************************************************
Laura Sandys MP joined Craig Mackinlay, the Conservative Police Crime Commissioner Candidate, on the campaign trail over the weekend.
Laura said: "Craig and I were out in Broadstairs and Ramsgate on Saturday chatting with hundreds of local residents. I always enjoy high street stalls but it was particularly great to have him out on the high street with us as it gave people an opportunity to put their questions to him directly. People were very receptive to Craig's no-nonsense approach and his message that crime reduction is his number one objective."
Craig said: "I was delighted to spend a day with Laura Sandys and her team in Broadstairs and Ramsgate. It was obvious just how popular she is locally. We received a warm welcome from residents, who share my concerns about anti-social behaviour, drugs and front line policing. I received a clear message from the residents of Thanet - they want a Police Commissioner who will be tough on crime and tough on criminals."
-ENDS-
This is of course a kent wide election..Labour are very quiet. not sure if they have woken up yet but if they do and they send something in I will use theirs too as ever.

Have to agree Ms Sandys is a very busy lady, judgeing by the press releases Doverforum receive.
As said above everyone gets even coverage.

spot on jan, ms sandys is very outgoing and lets everyone know what she is doing and standing for and strikes a chord with the public.
as you say anyone of any political persuasion(not necessarily party political) will get the same airing here.

There does not seem to have been a lot going on to report. Yes, we get regular press-releases, i.e.puff-pieces, but there are no real assertions of public support. In the main these things read much like the, now banned, out of context theatre critic quotes that used to adorn 'front of house' porticoes.
"Craig and I were out in Broadstairs and Ramsgate on Saturday chatting with hundreds of local residents..."
Could not the, "The end is nigh!", sandwich-board chappy say, with just as much conviction, that he got his message out to hundreds of 'residents' by bawling at passers-by?
" It was obvious just how popular she is locally - full stop" "We received a warm welcome from residents,[what might 'warm welcome' mean? Were they all residents, no visitors, no holiday makers?) who share my concerns about anti-social behaviour, drugs and front line policing."
"who share"?? What does that actually mean, compared with what it may mean or is intended to convey? It sounds like one of those sweeping statements that politicians make as if they are talking for the whole population.
It all reads like simple-minded puffery, "Today, I'll mostly be eating pie.", empty vessel stuff.

Is there provision in the Act that set this ball rolling to call it a day should the turn-out be low? Better, perhaps, for people to take this matter seriously and go out and spoil their voting paper.
