Here in Dover we have two Rotary Clubs, The Lions and at least ten Masonic lodges, all of whom do fund raising events and functions for the town. We have the Dover Society, The Western Heights Preservation Society, The Castle Street Society and the Hellfire Corner group, all raising and looking out for Dover's heritage and historical sites. There are quite a few community and special interest groups looking out for residents and their interests. And, of course, we have two carnival courts with two 'courts' of girls going around the country to many different functions and events, all winning awards and recognition for Dover. The town benefits from getting a summer carnival and a Dickens' Festival and/or an illuminated parade.
So can anyone tell me why it is the fact of two carnival associations that everyone obsesses about?
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Chris, we also have two ports (Eastern and Western), each with their own Heights overlooking them, two Dover Ports (DHB an P/P

).
Two Folkestone Roads (old one may be known by a different name), two Saint Mary churches.
The list is quite impressive.
I didnt realise there where 2 carnival courts

Who cares how many of any organisation there are so long as they raise money for good causes and do not argue amongst themselves.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Ah, there's the rub..................

To be honest Chris I am not sure people are
I think what most of us want is organisations with similar objectives to workk together wherever that is possible

neither do many people know about the 2 channel swimming organisations.
with regard to the carnivals as long as they exist and entertain people will just assume that the one carnival association is being very busy.
the history of the two is only known by people that are or have been actively involved or have followed local forums for a very long time.

We have two piers too

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
