No, not in the icy waters off Iceland but in the nether areas of London Road. Divito's, at the top end of the road have recently produced a flyer saying they are under new management and that tomorrow, Tuesday, fish and chips will be half price.
Tony's Fish Bar lower down the road have signs in their window saying that tomorrow fish and chips will be 50% off.
Where will it end? Should we send in the navy?

Perhaps it would be more sensible for them to promote alternative fish to cod and promote that at low prices.

There are many fish better than cod,and certainly with more flavour.

It was me that mentioned cod Barry. Pollack War doesn't have the same ring about it. I don't know though!

I just hope the Cod War doesn't end with someone getting kicked in the pollacks.

I am another Pollack lover
I have caught many Pollack over the year's and they are very nice battered, although I have to say I prefer to make them into fishcakes.
Pouting & Whiting are also very nice in fishcakes, they do need a bit more preperation though, as they both have many bones.
Dogfish are plentiful now, and lovely in batter but they seem to have become less popular in fish shops, which might be why they are now plentiful?

Dogfish, is that not also called Huss Gary? That was one of my favourites, not had it for years. A very meaty flesh with a single bone down the middle.

One of my all-time favourites is Skate Wing - grilled with butter and black pepper, but I don't like having to get rid of the thorny skin of the thorny-backs 'Roker' as the fishermen call it.

All yummee! Tea for me yesterday was Dover Sole baked in white wine with a Parmesan topping and bubble and squeak, lovely. Not a regular thing, special treat instead of an Easter egg.
Lunch today is crabcakes made with Folkestone crab and the last bits of bubble and squeak.
