However, let us not forget the council have a statutory obligation to ensure all legal and health & safety concerns, insurances etc., are in place before allowing a table and chairs to be sited on public properrty.

14:5266014I had some great whelks from there at the weekend and half the price of Broadstairs stalls.
I don't know where the boundary is, but I wonder if any of the delay was down to it not being public property but DHB so there was loads of buck passing

, head scratching

and form filling

before it could be approved

19:4766086To answer Paul aka Scotchie's question about the crane, I think you'll find the lighting wave element has now been added to the top of the lighting masts. Take a look when you're next on the seafront.
In my opinion, I think they've done a great job. I agree with Colin that the eastern end of the promenade now needs some attention. Something that a new port owner may have on the 'list of things to do'!

19:2466551went down for regatta with person in wheelchair , who wanted to have drink at cafe on beach , but what a joke there is a walkway but is like a rumble strip and not wheelchair friendly , the seaport centre === lift out of action and at end of pier cafe closed and finally the seafront hotel; closed ------ so all in all any vistors would have thought dover gone down hill quick since last year
as for the improvements on seafront for me complete waste of money should have gone for a similar look to eastbourne or weymouth
and spent the money on sand for the kids on the beach like weymouth in an are a where the sea does not touch

19:4566558we had no choice about where the money could be spent ron.
i am one of those that likes it, but then again i do not see it from the point of view of a wheelchair user.
i have long given up on the pier cafe, the churchill hotel is in the throes of renovation though and my be open the next time your friend visits.

20:0866563I will have to visit with my Mother in wheelchair and see how we get on. But overall, I like the new look - when it is in full swing it might be better........

20:2266566Actually, Ron above has jogged my memory. Yesterday, there was a chalk written sign on the entrance to the Prince of Wales pier stating that it would be open today and tomorrow. Did anyone else see this, and did it happen? I forgot all about it and never ventured that way today.

the government installed the thing, is it the harbour board or paul the fuhrer that uses their leccy card for the lights?
i know that paul is down to a candle at home due to government cuts.

16:1973134 On this very warm and sunny last day of September, should we record for posterity, the new grass verge`s on the sea front getting their first cut? A lovely Spring/Summer smell of fresh cut grass down there this morning. Those length`s of wooden fencing were taken down in the process, and hopefully won`t be re-erected.
