17:3865704 Despite the unseasonal weather lately, a grey sky can sometimes do more than a blue one. I`ve seen this view a number of times since it was finished, but this morning, it seemed to have a very clean and modern look.

18:0465708 In contrast, at the other end of the front, with the neat cycle path, couldn`t a little money be found for a bit of paint for the outdated looking toilet block? Something bright and cheerful?

19:2265726Agreed, it could even have been taken in Geneva or Como, the sea vew that is, not the toilets

20:2365750I would just like to comment on the new look sea front. Now I know a lot of effort has gone into improving the look of the area. but I have a certain misgivings about it all.
The improvements i have no problems with it is the material that I feel a tad uneasy about. I am not a builder ,nor a stone mason so would be quite happy to be corrected.
The material used to do the wavey "walks" looks like marble to my untrained eye so with that in mind I have a question "What happens when the frosts and snow arrive??" there are no railings to prevent the elderly slipping over, comes to that any one could end up on there butt, or has this particulary material been treated to prevent such mishaps?? and if not who do I sue if I am the first to go arse over apex??

20:2865752a very good point james, i think it was our member claire who went and jogged along the new promenade and made a comment similar to yours about the slipperiness.
all new projects have teething problems, maybe they have a plan b to correct this.

21:1165756Do the new 'wave' lights do exactly that, pulse with the motion of the sea, or is that a romantic notion? I couldn't resist doing a quick 'speedy gonzales' impression whilst walking along the 'first wave' ie my own 'mexican wave'

21:5465761I think the "cliffs" look like the stuff they edge the motorways with in some places.
And no, the lights do not pulse with the motion of the sea, I know my eyesight is pants but I think they are just barely on at a low level.
I can't help wondering why there are not seats in each little recess, or are these to follow?
It is a shame that the Eastern End is so bleak, since there is still quite a lot of walkway beyond the point of those toilets.

23:3865793Great pictures again Colin.
There can`t be many people taking pics of the toilets, still, if anyone asks just squint and say your Japenese!

00:2065796Love your photo Colin - it looks lovely - not like Dover at all!!

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

07:1865807Walking along the seafront on Saturday, I saw seats in the wave recesses Sid.
That first photo does indeed look good. Has the (summer-only) public toilets opposite the Sea Sports Centre now been painted ? They were a very sorry sight a few months ago.

12:0065856Not at all Sid, but they're there if you need them.
You may want to sit down and take in the view and tranquility.

12:4565872Don't sit on them in anything light - I saw them on Sunday and it seems the wood had been treated with something that was leaching out with the rain and staining the white walls and the ground underneath a yukky brown.

19:2565952 Thought I`d just slip this in from the other day, shortly after this stall got planning permission for tables and chair`s. A long time coming I`m told, but why? This is the sort of thing that `belongs` on a sea front.
