No 4 insists on hiding her light under a bushell, no doubt the good lord has taken on board her "anonymous" donation and she will sit with all the other God botherers on his right hand side so that he can see what they are up to.

An anonymous donation Howard? How very noble; right on cue as the driving force of keeping the flag flying over Dover brigade!

Every thread is a confrontation.
Perhaps a bit of humility and thought, about what all of this is actually about, might silence a few.

#4. Why the need for your name to be mentioned for a donation? Is it tax deductible or does it get added to expenses?

It comes from their own pockets, not their allowances,

Could I just ask that this post doesn't get into an attack on certain parts of our community if so I will delete the post which would be a shame as the topic was put up for a number of reasons;
1; To show amount raised
2; to show community coming together in a great cause
3;to raise awareness of the cause
4;to keep the issue high on everyones agenda
5;in the hope that people will continue to donate
6;that others will consider if they wish to donate to charity that Kelly is the first option due to time
and need to raise the million.
So please, this is all in aid of Kelly Turner

Keith, I highly recommend your involvement in this and that of those who made an effort. Effort being the operative word. I constantly put donations in various military charities / boxes but it requires no effort. I am supportive of yours.

You forgot number 7.
7. So I can let everyone know how wonderful and important I am and also other wanabee politicians can jump in and let people know how self important (and generous?) they are.
Jan had already put up a running thread to keep people informed of events and the running total but then you feel the need to have your own individual thread highlighting one event out of hundreds. Well done for doing something to support this very worthwhile cause but why do you feel there is a need to seek a pat on the back? Thousands of people in and around the town have organised, attended and supported events without the need to seek any glory. Can't you do the same?

This forum is really getting very petty.Im surprised anyone ever seeks to be a Councillor.I think Keith was just keeping us informed of the event which by all accounts was good fun and raised money for what is a worthy cause..
Yes Councillors do get paid or on the DTC a small allowance is given.I think you will find many Councillors give to charityand attend many events and buy numerous raffle tickets.
I'm sure there are many out there who work claim back on there tax returns.I have veered of the subject slightly but this forum needs to go back to being informative and a source of debate. Not constantly having a go at personalities.

So true Paul M, this has become a forum of self promotion for some.
People who have a constant need to tell others how wonderful they are.
I know lots of councillors from all parties, most are decent, well meaning people who just want to help out if they can. Unfortunately some are attention seeking and destructive, they tend to be the ones that make most noise.
