From that article..."Residents love to see the village aglow each year, but the parish council said it had to ditch them because the county council said they were too heavy for the lamp posts."
"Many of the columns were found to be unsafe and unable to support the weight of the Christmas light motifs of up to 8kg."
Surely if the the lamp posts will not hold that small weight, which is less than a child who might climb them, they are dangerous every day of the year so KCC should replace the lamps.
BTW our Dover lights are going to be turned on by the RNLI.

................also if the KCC are to be believed this Bustard resting on one of these suspect lamp posts could also cause problems!
Perhaps the KCC Christmas song would then be:
