And now it turns out that Cleggy and Cable (allegedly) knew. If it's true, these people have no right to be cabinet ministers.

i actually feel sorry for both of them, huhne for a promising career ruined by an act of stupidity and more so his wife, neither should be in prison in my view whilst suspended sentences and less are handed out to people for persistent burglary, assault and other things that impact on our lives.

I have no sympathy with either of them and certainly not the wife who knew exactly what she was doing.

Exactly Jan. Both knew exactly what they were doing and hoped to get away with it and if their relationship hadn't gone pear shaped they would have done so.

the problem is there are only limited prison places, a few weeks back a burglar with 56 previous convictions got a suspended sentence and a young man from maxton beat someone so badly when drunk that the victim is disfigured for life, again no custodial sentence.

There's a letter from an Eastleigh resident in today's 'i' paper suggesting that they should be put to work clearing rubbish, chewing gum, etc in Eastleigh instead of going to prison.

If they had not received a prison sentence it would have been perceived by many that they had got away lightly with 'perverting the course of justice' because of who they were.

I was about to suggest something similar Karlos. Clearing snow perhaps. Nah that would interfere with their human rights.

Should who they are really come into it? if found perverting the course of justice they should, and are, pay the penalty. They knew exactly what they were doing and stuck two fingers up at our legal system, the legal system we all live by.
