#20 And just who might you be?
I gave a direct quote in #7. Are you saying that Charlie Elphicke does not know what he is saying and doing?

I do apologise, I had meant #8 and not #7. I must be more careful, forgive a forum newbie!
But, to the latter question - one of the ill-researced and misguided bits pieces of rhetoric is his desire to 'protect' a British company - odd, when the only three ferry operators using the Port of Dover are owned by companies in Dubai, Denmark and France.

Ah, so you are involved in the business of the port in some way?
Welcome to the Forum.
For perfectly sensible reasons I tend not to get involved in Dover-port shenanigans. Many here are acting with the best intentions for the future of the town and of the port. The matter is in good hands, so it seems to me.

indeed welcome to the forum laurie, if you have been looking in for some time you will be aware that anything to do with the port ignites strong passions.
mostly because all of us want the best for the port and town.

Thank you for the welcome #23 & #24
I've been following for a while, I'll come clean and say that I work for MyFerryLink, and SeaFrance before that - so I'll accept all accusations of bias with open arms!
I put the banner at the top of the forum, which reminds me, it needs updating!

Inevitably a Charlie thread is bound to verge into a Port thread too, as Charlie is utterly mixed up in the Port.
He claimed on the Dover Express this week that he and other East Kent MPs saved the Port of Dover from being privatised.
He'll go on attributing everything to himself, from the speed-rail link to Dover and Deal to the Portas award, and to the hospital and to whatever, as well as becoming the champion of new infrastructure at Whitfield to cater for 6,000 more homes.
There is no doubt that his latest interference with MyFerry will hit the DfT, and I doubt they'll be impressed.

I'll hazard a guess that a 3 year old child could see the contradictions in the attacks on EuroTunnel concerning MyFerry.
If the 3 former Sea France ships had gone to LD Lines and DFDS, and these ferry companies had "forced down the prices" of Channel crossings, then they'd probably have forced themselves and P&O out of the market too, so it's an unlikely theory.

Welcome Laurie and thank you for being open about your affiliations. Of course your job as digital marketing manager means that we shall be seeing a lot of you. But you will have your work cut out convincing us (except Brian and Alex

) that there is still a level playing field out there.

Charlie's most prominent number in London pulled off when his doggie won a pedigree prize outside Parliament.
He (his dog) further made headlines when it went lost from Charlie's new home and was discovered sitting on a cliff edge.
Charlie's biggest crowd gathering reached 150 people at the Dover Sea Sports centre to launch "Save our White Cliffs".
Not even the presence of Dame Vera could change those figures.
To our disgrace, a section of the White Cliffs actually did fall into the sea some time later.
But when it came to saving a section of the White Cliffs by raising money to purchase it for the National Trust, DHB paid up a sizable sum. Where was Charlie then?
