Sorry I missed it. Nice one though!

was a strange interview.
the guy next to charlie was the labour advisor at the last election, and he's one of many up for the police commiso isioner job.
they also interviewed the leader (labour)of gravesham council who's opposing any new bridge/link from kent to essex.
although the leader had a point that the charges on the new dartford crossing was going to be stopped(and hasn't) maybe you should look at this before building another crossing, but charlie and the other labour guy made a good case for the nedd for a new crossing and jobs etc that would be created as well as business';s calling for a crossing.
the gravesham leader was saying he was the voice of the people of gravesham and there should be better consultation.
should be interesting to see how all that developes

another subject raised was about late night drinking which charlie said was a big problem in deal leading to anti social behaviour.
on wind farms he was in favour of the offshore ones but not on land, whether that will be enough to satisfy philip remains to be seen.

I caught the last 2 mins of this and did get a pic but as Howard has already covered it there no need for me to upload anything. Charlie came across well..I just caught the tail end where he offered the standard line re windfarms..in a nutshell...land is bad, sea is good. I never really understood why land is bad, other than for NIMBY reasons, the windfarms are all over France and dont damage the landscape...I dont think so anyway, they have a certain elegance. There doesnt appear to be objection like anything on the scale here. Of course the population is more sparsely spread over there across the greater landmass so that might have something to do with it.

Does Charlie live in Deal Howard?
There is a far higher level of anti social behavior in Dover than Deal - he surely 'lives' there as much?

Darren he lives in Deal. He is mostly there at weekends, he often stays up in London during the week though. He does not therefore experience a Saturday night in Dover on a regular basis. Perhaps I could challenge him to 8 pints and a large doner kebab.

Didn't see the programme although I'm aware of the views of the 101 "rebels" (please excuse me while I chortle).
To be in favour of offshore and against offshore turbines is beyond stupid.

charlie used the words "my constituency of deal", i believe that deal has more night life than dover hence the reference to deal.
ready to be corrected though.

Well I 'live' around the corner from him in Deal these days. I walk past every day: no rubbish, no recycling, no lights... even at the weekend.
Well I'm pretty happy about that because it means I still 'live' in Dover by this definition.
Maybe I am being unfair. He may be taking his waste to the skip and using moonlight via mirrors - Big Society at work.

the 24 hour licensing without proper ways of keeping tabs on it was always gong to be a disaster.
the times i sat at meetings where the agencies hadnt spoke to each other and the case fell apart because of it and licences were granted because the agencies were not talking

i would have thought that if the police considered premises to be too rowdy then the licence could be taken away keith.
am i wrong?

trouble is howard the agencies never spoke to each other so cases used to fall because of it
and a good solicitor won every time

Next call from Charlie must suggest he does not upset Boris too much over his `silly` idea for an estuary
island airport..........it will be difficult to get a job....as a shadow minister when he is the ``Gaffer``........

the bit i saw late last night, came over as a bit of a nurd but there again it was an edited quite heavaly.
peter, chas is more walmer than deal.

Charlie supports Dover well even though he lives in Deal - and they are only the distance you could sling a kebab from each other. I like the idea of Peter and Charlie on the razz in Dover with their 12 pints and a doner mixing it with the "elements"......sounds like a good Olympic sport to me..........

Yes I agree, Mr Elphicke does a good job representing our needs.
In terms of where he lives, I am confused by the terms of 'living'. However by this new definition I have 'lived' all over Europe, albeit for only 3 or 4 weeks at a time.
But then I suppose there is no problem with our representative not being a full time resident. Local issues can surely be decided by a centralised government, it's not as if the Conservative have any kind of outlook on 'localism' ...is it?!

Charlie went further up the League Table today with regard to televison appearances..he really hit the bigtime earlier when he was on Politics Today and was interviewed by arch interrogator Andrew Neill...here they are...
Only the Westminster elite make it onto this show. Charlie was on as a tax lawyer condemning the Tax Avoidance by the likes of Starbucks and Amazon etc. What these large American companies do is legal so we need more laws..said Charlie with the agreement of the rest of the panel. How Amazon avoid tax is this ...you order it in english, the setup is english, the warehouse is english, the post and packing are english...but the website it seems is actually in Luxembourg! There you have it
...no tax for the UK.
The little coffee shop down the road in legitimate terms pays all the crippling tax and starbucks pay nothing...not right
