As for it being a dead entity, here is another picture..in front of the gateway flats. Not too dead there.
There was spitfires etc in the gardens only a shortwhile back too with the unveiling of the latest monument. Big crowd in attendance. There are religious services of remembrance and so on.The beach buzzes too when we get the weather. However, our payment as a community was to forgo the Regatta
"Children", not baby goats, have precious little to do on the Sea front, compare the parking fees, and the amount that there is to do in Folkestone now. It would be particular dangerous to jump off the Piers, something, I understand is banned!
The Sea Sports Centre and the Restaurant is basically economically beyond the reach of many locals etc. - 27 October 2012 12:50198025I agree Howard, the seafront in Dover is wonderful. Although I think the connection (or lack of) to the town is the main issue.
I think Mr Elphicke has an odd view on this one.
Christine, with all due respect, I don't think you can claim any higher visual awareness than Mr Elphicke when you write 'The other half of the promanade, in front of the Grimway Flats, has no access to the Beaches'.
Unless of course you regard patches of shingle banked up between the stepped sea defence and the groynes as 'beaches'.
Perhaps Mr Elphicke should visit the seafront more often instead of spending so much time on Deal beach with his family and award winning dog 'Star' - as his website suggests.
N.B: Dogs are not permitted on Deal beach from 1st May to 30th September. - 27 October 2012 13:00198026had to scrape something off my trainers last time i was on deal beach, i doubt that an award winning dog would have been responsible though.

Yes, I do remember Charlie launching a WW2 style campaign to defend the Seafront and the White Cliffs being sold to....erm...France! (Meanwhile it's become "the Arabs")
