19:1879943Ok. so your about to go into a 2 minute silence ( werever you are ) on remeberance day and the idiots start kicking off and burning Poppys. What is your reaction going to be?
I know what I and a number of forumites on here would do or hope they would do (After the 2 min silence of course).
Any thoughts on this one people?

19:3479951What should happen would be that they would be arrested on charges of behaviour likely to cause an affray, breach of the peace & incitement to racial hatred, what I would expect to really happen is that there is a confrontation and those not doing the burning to get arrested.

19:4579956Ok then Howie I get your point, so if your going to get arrested for standing up to this sort of thing, make a bloody good job of it but please don't hit a copper.

Those nice guys are only piggy in the middle.
I have to add after reading the other thread........IF people knew that these people WOULD be arrested for the said crime, they and me would be happy to stand by and watch. But we all know this won't happen and that is why people react the way they do.
Once again I luv you Bern.

20:1579957Lets just say as I have 1 son in RAF, currently still serving, and another who was in Royal Engineers for many years, both of whom spent time in the various places we all read about, I don't think I need to post a comment on this, but I can THINK it.

just imagine how people that have lost loved ones in the falklands conflict, the gulf war, iraq and afghanistan must have felt when seeing fellow britons behave in that way at a remembrance event.

00:4279974Ignore them. These people are trash and do not even deserve our condemnation.

08:3179980They are trash Peter, that is true, but it comes back to the saying "Evil triumphs, when good men do nothing". Is there too many good men doing nothing ?

10:3379990If they are ignored they do not get the publicity that they seek, in this case "the good men do nothing" would be the correct thing.

10:5379999Can't the Good Men do something but do it quietly, away from publicity? I am Irish - I know it can happen.............

Its fine saying that these people should be dealt with, but how would YOU like to see them punished?

16:4080025We have a serious problem, the jails are bursting, so my first option is jail, but if thats not possible then serious community orders, one that make them work enough that they won't do t again.
I'm afraid im a little right wing on this one, I thnk jail should be a place to be feared by everyone, thats not the case at the moment.
I even lean towards boot camps type prisons but without the rights to refuse.
Of course Stewart I happy to give you my view

17:0080031Anyone who doesn't fear prison is either stupid or has never been inside one. Or perhaps simply thrives on the institutional environment. Whichever way it is, I fear Keith may be simply believing the Daily Mailers and assuming that people enjoy jail because that is easier to believe than to believe that it is the entire system that is failing. I have rarely met anyone who has enjoyed their imprisonment and have met many damaged beyond belief by it, or have few alternatives on release because of the prejudices of others.
Other alternatives such as secure mental health environments are not funded. The appalling closure of mental health institutions in the 80s left few alternatives for mentally damaged people with few personal resources - but, hey, it moved them onto someone elses budget so who cares?
