 - Not derelict, just unoccupied. Raking in rent for the phone masts on the roof whilst paying no Business Rates.... - Been nice knowing you :)

 - What an opportunity missed. Get any people out of course and from neighbouring buildings/businesses too. Then charge tickets for Dover's best fire-display.

 Hope no one was hurt.

 - Got some pictures and words on this fire now on the frontpage. It certainly woke up a sleepy sunday evening around here. I stared at the smoke in disbelief before the penny dropped that it was actually on fire. It happened just as yours truly was settling in to the big match...but I grappled for the camera double quick and got the frontpage pictures. -
Here also is a picture I had through from John Sheridan showing all the appliances in attendance..thanks John.
 -
If that thing went up it could have been monumental.

 - Rumours abound of people dossing in Burlington House, along with the multi-storey car park and the former Dolphin Lane 'jungle' (you know, the site of the one-time Leneys Brewery and later the Martin Walter Mercedes-Benz showroom, from those days when that part of Dover used to function).

Wonder if it was a stray fag or something lit by a, ahem, 'resident'? Who knows.

 - Have added another pic to the frontpage. You can see a man watching from Western Heights..yet he is not in any of the other pictures I took, nowhere to be seen yet all taken at the same time. Spooky!

 - The bloody building can't even burn down properly!

I don't think the ghostly figure on the heights was East Kent's late king of the Swan Vestas to whom many of you have alluded, but actually the ghost of Dover past, egging the bloody building to be razed to the ground at long last.

 - I think you'd have been given the Freedom of Dover and carried aloft through the streets if you'd done it Paul!
