BSkyB PROFITS ARE UP 26% in the first 6 months to £467 million.Murdoch`s interest is rekindled so much so he remains in London to lead the negotiations personally with Jeremy Hunt ( God help us please ) If Murdoch achieves the purchase of BSkyB purality will be involved.
Murdoch will have overwelming control of the media share which means he will have again control of our and other politicians.
This is one `U`turn we need desperately if not Flashman will face the heavy cane or be expelled.

wimbledon is supposed to be sacrosanct, whether the new government go along with this is another thing altogether.
to give formula 1 to sky is as laughable as giving it to i.t.v.
they will stop for commercial breaks meaning the important events in the race could be missed as happened with i.t.v.
football, cricket, the two rugby codes and most other sports have natural breaks that cater for adverts.

Like what Brian ?
Millions of people enjoy Wimbeldon for free, which would be at a cost if it went to Sky Sports.

the viewing figures are massive brian, people take their annual holiday leave to sit in front of the televison.
i only watch if a brit has reached the closing stages but it is a national institution and has to be kept free for those that enjoy it.

Last weekend I received a call from Reception on my ferry asking if I could change the TV channel being shown to the passengers as they were new and didn't know how to do it. Apparently a lot of passengers were asking to see the F1 German Grand Prix. I duly showed them how to change the relevant Digibox in the Server Room to BBC1 then went round with a remote control checking the passenger TV's as they have an option of live TV, children's DVD or the DFDS promotional channel. Seeing this, another passenger asked me if he could have ITV as a Briton was doing rather well in the Tour de France. In the event, Lewis Hamilton won the German Grand Prix and Mark Cavendish took the green jersey in the Tour de France so everybody was happy.*
* Saying Mark Cavendish took the green jersey reminds me of an advertising campaign by The Times many years ago. They put up posters saying what proportion of different professions bought the newspaper. One poster on a London railway station stated "90% of top clergy take The Times." Underneath this some mischievous city gent had scribbled "the rest pay for it!"

But would not be showing the programmes referred to, of course, as the BBC would not have purchased the right to broadcast them.

bbc 3 and 4 start at 7 p.m. the tennis starts 5 or 6 hours earlier.
the bbc like all channels put their most watched programmes on their flagship channels.
most channels nowadays put on soaps and reality stuff that i would not watch, but large numbers of people do.
