Passed through the Market Square just now to find police vehicles everywhere and the mechanical digger cordoned off.
Word was spreading among onlookers that a skeleton had been unearthed by the gas mains works.
Official confirmation to follow no doubt.
When was the Market Square relaid? 1988? An unsolved murder from the late 80s could soon be cleared up.

Maybe it was a grave from the old St. Martin Le Grand church? It is very close to the ruins.

Attempted upload failed on this occasion Paul. Don't worry though I have got the hang of it.
We wait to see what is, literally, unearthed. Possibly a historic relic after all.

this was in 1956 in Market Square.... I believe they were thought to be part of the St Martin le Grand burials... maybe the same one has been dug up again ???

DOVER HEADLINES ...BREAKING NEWS...READ ALL ABOUT IT
''Construction on the long awaited DTIZ development begins........unfortunately in the wrong place''. Builders miss the spot marked X by a quarter of a mile but then thought they had struck a rich oil seam only later to realise it was the market squares' decorative fountain.
A Council spokesperson apologised for the inconvenience and confirmed that the mistake will inevitably result in a further delays to the DTIZ building project of another 30 years whilst a full and costly inquiry takes place!
