Went to the Deal Dip this morning, a huge crowd turned out , would like to see as many at Crabble this afternoon for the Dover game.

on the stroke of noon they entered the icy, well lukewarm waters
a few seconds later they were out.
this little chap got caught by a wave much to the mirth of the owner myself and others standing around.
whilst taking the shot a follow up wave got me.
had to walk home with shoes weighing twice as much as when i started out.

We couldn't have been more than a few feet apart Howard when everyone took to the waters. As you observed, as soon as they were in it seemed they turned around and came ashore again. But that's being a little unfair as most went back for a good old splash around!
In
Out again
The exceptionally high tide didn't allow too much movement on the beach but the main thing was everyone seemed to have a splendid time and should be congratulated for an excellent turnout. I would have gone in myself, but a long time ago I was shipwrecked and since then have developed a strange aversion for getting cold and wet when there's no particular need to do so!

You were standing at the opposite end Howard. Me, Ross, Guzzler & Linda went in...miles away from you though! Collette was there to catch me & Linda's second dip of the day (fools we were)!
It really was so much warmer than last year, brilliant fun! Glad to have Linda as my partner as well, she's a star!
Few boring figures for you: last year there was just over a 100 that ran in...this year there was a massive 160!! Excellent & I'm hooked!!
I know a million ways to always pick the wrong thing to say

W-W-Well d-d-one ev-everybody. One Mankini if I am not mistaken, extra brave.
I have had to make up my own sound track though...think 'seal colony' ?

Yes I was there with Guzzler and Jeanette. I've never been down to Dover beach on Boxing Day (always been away with family) - but I am so glad I went down yesterday, great atmosphere and crowd and somehow I was mad enough to go into the water. I really enjoyed it and thanks Jeanette for your support - I can't wait till next year!

Some good pictures and more to come of those who braved the sea yesterday and well done to all

it was good to see also that a great many turned out to cheer them along, guess the guy on the front page was sure glad he had the santa hat to protect his modesty.

I avoided going for the Boxing Day dip this year due to a sudden rush of 'Sanity'

It was good to see Linda, Ross, Guzzler & Jeanette dipping their toes in this year with all the Mad Fools & Englishmen raising monies for charity or just for a bit of fun

Fabulous spread of photos up there on our front page, really shows the excitement of the day and what a great time it was too. The crowds were certainly bigger this year both in and out of the water. Getting the photos this time around was great fun as the tide being in left such little space to manoeuvre, so I got thoroughly wet feet and ankles, glad I didn't wear my Louis Vuittons
Jenny, will take a lot more than soap to remove that image
Linda and Jeanette done it for the girls!
Howard, sorry we missed you
