My hand is very firmly down, I use it much more than any 'lady' should.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Spot on Howard.Boris turns the air -and the polls-blue,he makes thousands of broadcasts without swearing. He is nobody`s
fool, his image is carefully calculated and prepared down to the last wisp of carefully pre-tousled hair. When he swears it is
no accident.....he knows its a vote winner.

The opportunities for Bodge-Job to rant and curse abound. If he read this earlier he would have turned the air Blue yet again...
"Lettters
Ken's figures add up.
I worked in Transport for London finance for over 20 years until January, producing the management reports that were used to run the underground. In my opinion Ken Livingstone has provided an accurate assessment of TfL's finances (Editorial, 1 May). His fares cut is entirely affordable. Many people cannot believe that Boris Johnson has built up such large surpluses. Why would he not use them to cut fares in an election year? My guess is that it's all about the deal Boris did with his government colleagues. It's an open secret that the Conservatives would like to slash the subsidy to TfL, on top of the £2.2bn cut happening over the next few years. But that will only work with a friendly mayor who is willing to massively increase fares - and Ken's election would stop that plan dead. Based on my knowledge of TfL's finances, I have no doubt that Ken could both cut fares and improve services, without reducing investment. Boris's needless and excessive fare increases have not provided extra investment - indeed that has fallen during his term and much has been wasted.

There's a time and a place for expletives and during an interview is not one of them, looking forward to seeing my fellow old school chum later this week

Does that mean you were a `Bullingdon Boy`?
I guess it's that thing about courtesy again. Public places, including interviews, are not an appropriate vehicle for cursing. Although a few well placed "words" can certainly be an indicator of whatever the person using the "words" wants to convey. Image management, chaps!

studying that report posted by tom it shows things don't change that much.
about 30 years ago ken whilst leader at the g.l.c. cut tube fares dramatically and many commuters left their cars at home and took up the ample spaces on the underground trains.
a win/win situation for all.

Well, polls do not open until tomorrow and its much longer to when the result is announced but already bookmaker Paddypower has paid out £20,000 to people who bet on Boris. Yes, it is all about publicity, but no-one seriously thinks there will be a different result. All the polling is for Boris and 88% of the bets made over the last 24 hours have been on him.
A good choice for London.
I think it is more that Ken is losing it than Boris is winning it, though.

I am not sure about that. There is a base for what you say as the odious Livingstone is not liked and a lot of Labour people are voting for Boris, but it is not as if there are no alternatives. The dynamics of the election are different as well due to second preference votes being counted (and other preferences).
I just heard Millipede on R4 asked if he thought Ken was a mistake for the Mayoral election. Obviously he said no, but you could almost hear him thinking " sh1t!"
