Sorry Roger, I thought I had. You or PF choose where to meet and what to clean then let the DTC office know so that posters and places at the hog roast can be arranged. Simples.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

this all puts to bed the myth that the town and district councils fail to work together because of political differences.
not a single red councillor to be seen on this one so clearly it is about poor communication or individual egos.

So just say me or Roger are unable to attend this event (and depending on certain outcomes to a situation I may not be) who will do all the decision making when people turn up. Or are you expecting us to do all the planning beforehand? Useful when we're not told about it - that would be another anti-PF coup. Also, on the experience of our last clean up is an hour and a half long enough? It took 20 minutes to collate names and divvy out the hi viz jackets.
Will this poster be put up round the town? What sort of response has there been so far? We did an individual mail drop to the houses in the area we wanted to clean and got a reasonable response but only because we shoved it under their noses,as it were.
Sorry if this all sounds negative but I want answers not cheap shots across the bow.

You're right there Jen - an hour and a half is only a token show, not a meaningful clean-up. I'd have thought that start at 10.00 and finish around 1m to 1.30.
It would take about an hour to clear some of the brambles and nettles from the Glen Grove
alleyway; I went for a walk round there and at the top of Glen Grove, turning left, is not too bad at all, some nettles an brambles could be cut back, the worst part was from the top of Glen Grove to Winchelsea - still passable, but could do with a cut back.

I would have thought that the start time is purely a suggestion if you feel longer is needed for the area you have chosen within your patch, then I am sure that you can set your own time. The key time is surely when the event in Pencester starts as that is when your volunteers can go get their free burger...
I am no more party to the organisation ofthis than you are other than I did get emailed by Ms Hubbard; though her original letter has never materialised - suspect it went to our chair...
Having said that I am organising people in my patch to litter pick the Cherry Tree Scrap Yard - which is not something the council contract cleaners can do as it is private land. I suspect having had a quick recce that 90 minutes will be sufficient if we can get 5 or 6 people, if we have enough volunteers there are other patches we can have a go at too. This time round we will not be cutting back the vegetation at Cherry Tree but it is something we will be talking to the land owner about for next year.

Ideally brambles, nettles and other perennial weeds need to be sprayed with glyphosate about 2-3 weeks before the clear-up, otherwise cutting back just stimulates more active growth, especially in this rain/shine/rain weather pattern we presently have.

Thanks Peter
Maybe we could get a grant for some of that ? A couple of gallons will do.

The councillors here in Buckland are involved in this, and have put forward areas to be in the clean up, we will be meeting at Buckland community centre 11.30 and then on to Pencester afterwards.

The Priory Forum are going to have a go at tidying up Glen Grove as an hour and a half is nowhere near enough for the Clarendon Alleys. Especially looking at Howard's pictures. So if anyone is interested in helping out we're meeting at the bus shelter on the corner of Elms Vale and Folkestone Roads (also known as the horse trough) and once we've got our kit from the Council we'll be off tidying etc.
Once the Council have come back to me about the funding remainder from last year we can think about tackling the alleyways again.
