Timeline -
The application for demolition of part of the pub was
approved in July 2010.
The final decision to approve the building of four houses on the car park was taken at
the Planning Committee meeting in January 2011 after several deferrals due to objections.
Parish council elections took place in May 2011.
And it was still under discussion at the parish council meeting two weeks ago.

This has brought back an amusing recollection - The Mighty cowpats were playing at the closing night party, just after we'd finished our last song six police came charging in looking for someone.
We think Health and Safety regs meant they weren't allowed in just in case they put in a claim for damage to their hearing - we were on 10.5, if we'd gone all the way to 11 we might have saved the demolition costs

That was only for part of the pub taking away the cooking part as I said it was all still in place when I was on the council and we could have had it if we could have got the funding .I know both of you are trying to make it look like I was lieing ,give it up.

Just looking at my old council notes now they tell as I said, that the person who was going to build the houses could go a head but the pub had to stay and could not be pulled down and if it open up again it had to go back to as it was .I do not know how it ended up being pulled down in the end because as I said planning was given only to the parts of the carpark and the land behind the pub and yes he could go ahead and build them but could not sale them till the issue of the pub was over.Again all in the pass the pub has gone no point keeping on about it,move on.My last post on the matter.

Something to ponder...
Landmark victory as developer loses appeal against order protecting historic Homerton pub...
"The pub became Hackney's first asset of community value (ACV) in March, meaning the owners could not convert the pub into housing or sell it without first offering community groups the chance to buy it.
This decision was appealed by the developer but Hackney Council has today become the first authority in the country to successfully defend an appeal against a decision to list a pub as an ACV..."

Good for Hackney - unfortunately, even strangely, there's no route for appeal by a community group if a council refuse an application for listing.

i do wonder though that homerton being in the metropolis gets more media attention than somewhere more off the beaten track.

Perhaps they're a more vigorous lot of burghers, Howard.
