I think the question is would you rather have this official art graffiti or the mindless scribbles that would have arrived very soon.
What they have done, regardless of whether we like the style, is give a more cared for look like the LRF images in the old Sainsbury windows have done for that eyesore.

Mindless scribbles? Are you saying that it would otherwise be used to display the program of regeneration.

Love it.
Also love the pavement artist's, I saw some up at Covent Garden, would be an attraction around the fountain.

Howard - I'm not keen on these either; why can't they do some 'calming' murals on the theme of Kent?
Or perhaps have panels done by children from Dover schools? It would be far more interesting.
This type of graffiti does remind one of very run-down areas.

It is simply a matter of taste - and it is possible to enjoy a wide variety of Types of Art! I rather like the concept of Youth Art which this kind of graffiti shows, street art, or unformed art. It's a bit of colour whatever it is! I do like representational art sometimes, but it can be a little boring however skillful.

I must admit I would have preferred different styles of graffiti art for each panal, that would have catered for all art tastes. Maybe they can only do the abstract style.

Anything that brightens up the grossly neglected derelict areas of this town is very welcoming indeed, and with Winter just around the corner it should at least make us all feel somewhat cheerier

I'm not against modern art, in fact I like it, but some of this type of graffiti seem to be 'spiky' and jagged and harsh... I do like the colour though but wish they had more variety in the shapes.

I went past them tonight and the white background ones looked fine not so sure about the others.

I mentioned on a previous post that I was hoping to take graffiti lessons; well I start next Saturday in London. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes. I'm really looking forward to it!

Jeanne, that sounds just so exciting and a bit left field! Very Jeanne!! Please keep us in the loop - it is fascinating!

Exactly Bern, I love to try anything new and a bit unexpected. Actually most people I've told have said "oh that's so you" - I guess I'm not that unpredictable, ha ha!
