With 200 million to choose from by 2015, the Germans will be spoilt for choice.

interesting that germany and holland couldn't get enough british and construction workers at one time and now germany wants our young unemployed.
yet we get some british employers claiming our workers are bone idle.

The mass in flow from the east is all about having workers that work for the minimum wage and say nothing when the boss treats them like sh...
British bosses love it , no need to employ apprentices or train people up,
The labour party become the boss's best friends.
The Germans love British tradesmen, and have no problem paying for them
I have just come of a big job, and all the ceiling where installed by Bulgarians rushing the job on low pay, employed by a British company.
All the British men on the job have flagged up the Structural problems in the work,
The inspectors have condemned it all ,It's all got to come down,
all you people having work by east Europeans need to think on the fact that the men doing the work are on peanuts and the last thing they consider is the building quality
Paint and plaster can cover up a lot, short time

that says rather a lot keith, no doubt the people who employed the cowboys will earn out of it then berate british workers for wanting the right pay for the job .

I don't think that any skilled tradesmen deserve to be paid peanuts; real craftsmanship is worth it's weight in gold. That being said, I don't see why the fact that they weren't British has anything to do with the quality of their work.
Surely there are British cowboys too?

daz
if they were skilled tradespersons they would not work for 2 quid an hour.
a few years back a site was being worked on locally near me and they brought in young eastern european lads that didn't even have hard hats and actually wore trainers!!

£6 ph, is big money in Bulgaria
They get in quick, get as much money as they can legally or not,
Then a lot go back home to convert there money in to property & land before there country's prices start to lift
These men are living in appalling conditions in the uk,
10 men in 1 flat is common place, confirmed to me by my fireman nephew
It's all about getting as much as they can in as little time ,then back to a better life
Unfortunately its British workers suffering long term as they have no where to go for a quick buck that quadruples on the currency exchange
The gold rush is on for Eastern Europe it will not stop all the time the EU is expanding.
All them that have settled in the uk are in it for the money or because there country's don't want them.

If they are not skilled tradesmen, then surely this has more to do with British employers than it does with the Bulgarian workers?
Keith's example is surely a prime example of a British company doing a bad job?

that is the whole point daz, in this case the bulgarian workers are doing what anyone else would do in the same position.
rogue employers feed off of them knowing that they will not answer back.

It's alright Keith, I have worked in the private sector...I think I understand what you are saying.
My point is that the nationalities of these cowboys is irrelevant. This is a problem of ours and one that is purely about exploitation. These workers you talk about earning £6 an hour are only as short sighted as British workers opting for the same, probably producing the same quality. The more astute workers (of any nationality) would opt for the £5 in Germany and get a trade at the same time?
