forum legend keith sansum has announced today that his computer has not responded to treatment by d.r.t and has passed away.
i know that forum members are renowned for their generosity and would like to contribute to the purchase of a new one so that we can all benefit from keith's pearls of wisdom.
i believe that barry is now rolling in it so may like to start the ball rolling whilst john g could call in his show business contacts for donations( i believe that richard digance is at the leas cliff hall soon).
one last thing, it has to be a brand new computer and not a cobbled together one.

Sad to hear of the demise of a very valuable tool. I can see what caused the problem..young keef, a self admitted left wing plebeian prole of the Trotsky school, was probably typing on a machine massed produced by a right wing corporation. This led to considerable confusion to its innards, the message it was getting from keefy was leading to wire crossing in the programming and short circuiting in the drive...resulting in a slippage in the disc. Can be painful.

Your clients already do that Barry, you'll just be recycling somebody else's money, as ever.

I was without my laptop for a while recently and managed to keep up to date on the Forum using the internet on my phone, would that be an option for Keith?

I would appreciate contributions towards an expensive day out at a London theatre.
I am sure that Keith could afford this one
http://www.ebuyer.com/389623-zoostorm-desktop-pc-7873-1066, I was surprised how much cheaper a new one can be from when I bought my present one.

BarryW, sorry, I would like to help you with your tax bill but along with cancelling my HD with sky earlier, I have now had to reduce my sky broadband to the limited version as well, to save some money. I also wanted to do away with my landline to save more money but I am informed that is not possible as it is part of my contract. Switching my gas & electric, again today.
Also, if my son leaves home, my wife will lose part of her benefits for having a spare room in our house and my pension, which pays for our loans, will not be increasing for the next 3 to 4 years.
I have refrained from using a credit card for over twenty years now, as I cannot afford one, but I will have no other option very soon.

Is it completely beyond repair. Usually when a computer dies it's just one component that has failed which can easily be replaced.

PaulB - really! Did you use the word "plebeian" and is the abbreviation "pleb" - and isn't that a very rude insult, according to those who have to deal with cyclists who want to ride in Downing Street? How disgraceful!

looks like the appeal has fell on deaf ears and/or hard hearts.
got my 50 quid ready, just the problem of deciding who is the most worthy cause - keith for his computer or barry to help with his tax bill.

Ah relax Jim.Keef and meself are good friends and he himself puts in loads of his posts the very words..."I'm just a pleb!!" as I'm sure we have nearly all seen. Its certainly the word of the moment..must NOT be used with the POLIS in Downing St however.
Its time young Keefy abandoned his love affair with laptops. By all accounts they seem to be unreliable. He has gone through a great many ..or a great many breakdowns. A good steady solid upright tower system is needed..a Dell perhaps.
I dont know if you can buy them on the never never..could be good.

#15 Thank you for that advice, I do avoid as much as I can legally but still get clobbered. I am not rich enough yet to avoid more thanks to that complex tax system we have.
