Majority of Conservative voters disagree with Cameron and Osbourne on budget cuts being to long.Fifty percent of tory voters are un-Thatcherite in their views on the state, public services and social entitlements
Because of the cuts being too fast too deep.illogical,anti-social the state/charities will not be able to pick up the pieces left behind.

`U` turn has to happen or Flashman will be expelled.

In the absence of the proposed cuts, Reg, where will the money come from to pay the bills?

reg
you appear to be commenting on something in the independent.
if so, there is a thread already on the subject called "temporary cuts".

How many of the 16,000 brave Policemen and women in London had redundancy notes in their back pocket last night?
How can we cut the Police Force?
Hopefully another `U` turn!!

So Reg - I too disagree with Defence cuts but I am prepared to cut elsewhere including the NHS budget (as to be fair Darling was).
Tell us what you would cut instead of those areas that you are complaining about?

Or alternatively, where the money will come from to avoid the cuts?

How about a sensible tax on the banks for starters?

Taxes solve nothing mark - they create more problems like giving incentives to avoid them, maybe move their profits abroad reducing further tax revenues.

but no, hes a geezer that does not forget his roots.
i'm sure reg will hate me telling you, but he is amongst the wealthy
big house, grounds, swimming pool, tennis courts, etc
but he also realises that there are others out there not to have got the breaks that reg got in life

This looks good to me:

It would help raise serious dosh and teach them that there will be consequences for outrageous and irresponsible behaviour. Perhaps Dave is just waiting to announce his 'fightback' against the bankers. THAT would make him look tough and earn him some respect amongst the general population.

Mark - it is Brown who needs to be taught that lesson after all it was his urging at the Mansion House and his regulatory changes that resulted in some bankers, some only, doing Brown's bidding and creating the awful banking mess up we had in 2008. I thought that you might look beyond popular misconceptions but I was sadly wrong. I say again punitive taxes solve nothing and merely add to the problems of the economy.
