Paul, the point being made is that Sue knows the events are on well in advance but only chooses to mention them after they have happened which is rather thoughtless.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

have to disagree paul, any event that we know of should be a thread on here.
if i hear of anything i list out the date/s, time/s, price of tickets etc.
it is only right to let the most possible people know and for the organisers to have a chance of making a success of the event.
This is such a good forum, literally. Those who can, should use it to its full benefit. What better platform for local events?

exactly my point bern, i have been told many times by non members that this the place for finding out what is going on locally.
scotchie paul and blue barry are masters at letting us know of their events then nearer the time keeping us informed of any changes.

Perhaps there should be a dedicated section on events or an event diary? Come to the events 'season' there will be more posts than Vic could do on a late night and I for certain wouldn't be able to keep up with the new posts left right and centre...
Been nice knowing you :)

doesn't work, roger used to do one.
best keep an event in the main forum, just post details when known then the day before bring it to the top.

Perhaps a 'sticky' topic in this forum that admin controls with events for the coming week so it is all in one place?

something for paulb to ponder.
he makes certain threads sticky but i think it is usually for something really heavy otherwise it loses the impact.
Love the banter between John and Howard you bad boys

Ah! If only the small team behind the scene keeping Doverforum up to speed could find the extra free time to run an events sticky thread. This would require extensive research for all events and manning on a weekly basis. The organisers of said events or indeed people who know the details should flag them up here on the forum themselves, after all there are more people aware of this great site than you can shake a stick at!
Yes Howard, Roger Walkden did run the events section but it was a lot of work and quite labour intensive. I agree that events should stay in the Forum section, with individuals publicising events, it would not involve to much time for them.
Agreed! This is, after all, a forum open for the Dover population and therefore it is in the other organisations interests to post theri events on here. I don't know why they don't do it more often!!

sorry about the picture quality, this was taken at the riverside centre this morning.
an enthusiastic group of school children sang with a great deal of gusto to an entranced audience.

got to the town hall about half an hour before kick off and practically all seats were taken, impressive for a 500 seat venue.
the dover choral society led by michael lewis were quite sensational, i never even knew we had a choral society.
various schools done their bit, st edmunds school band conduted by mr viv bates were accompanying the carols throughout.
then the high spot of the evening, who do i chance upon but none other than her highness the council chairperson looking resplendent
