In his sermon on Easter Sunday the Archbishop warned against putting trust in what he calls 'hero-leaders' as, being frail humans, they are bound to disappoint. In this he is drawing on history, and at the same time possibly predicting the future. Can anyone name a leader in recent history who did not eventually disappoint? His point was that to put all our hopes on such an individual is a form of cruelty as they cannot possibly fulfil our hopes and must eventually fall short.

Might want to use the "Preview Post" facility occasionally Keith, it prevents nonsense like
"as posters including Paul I hasn't read my postings" and makes it so much easier to get your message across in a literate way.

I've always found that one's contributions are taken more seriously if they are correct in spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation.
I therefore always use the preview function before posting.

I see this Dover landlord tried to get licensing for topples bar girls ,this should be a vote winner for him
If he had applied for bottomless bar men he could have represented the Tory party.

It was great to see Andrew Marr on his own show this morning, he was a guest on the show & took part in a discussion on the legacy of Margaret Thatcher. He told guest presenter Sophie Raworth that he feels lucky to be alive & that he is planning to come back once he has completed his intensive physio. He looked remarkably well after such a major stroke & hopes in time he will have good usage of the left side of his body. His left arm is still very restricted & with his usual charm he explained that he walks with an elegant hobble. He explained that he had been working far too hard last year & keeping fit on his rowing machine. Apparently the night before his stroke he felt dizzy & unwell after a session on his rowing machine & awoke next morning lying on the floor unable to move. He warned against over zealous use of rowing machines.
He is a lovely man, had the pleasure of meeting him several times during the last general election when my two daughters were on TV as first time voters

nigel was on fine form on the andrew marr show earlier, very confident of gains in kent at the expense of the reds and the blues.

It was indeed good to see Andrew Marr - I was wondering how he was getting on.
I wonder if the sales of rowing machines will now tumble. Lots of physio to do to get fully well. Good Luck Andrew.
Does Nigel F. wear those trousers for a bet ?
