I drove this morning from Farnham to Eythorne and back without any trouble. As we left Eythorne at about 11 the road from Coldred was being ploughed but not gritted. There was about 4 inches of lying snow on the road in Coldred. Full marks to the Highways Agency for keeping all the main roads passable. A31, A3, M25, M26, M20, A249, M2, A2, all mostly clear, although Detling Hill and the A2 from Coxhill to Coldred were very white with fresh snow. But traffic was very light so no problems.

i am amazed the buses have done so well unlike the idiots in my area trying to drive in these conditions, so far few kerbs have been hit but nothing too serious.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Vic has kept Sanctuary Close fairly clear of snow better than many other roads in River where no one has gritted the road .a job well done

Well done Vic but do be careful with your legs the way they are. Surly someone else younger and fitter could have done it?

Re #63
"A young woman walking to her sister's house in near-freezing conditions after a night out was found dead in the snow near the front door, it emerged today.
The 25-year-old victim is thought to have slipped in the icy conditions near the house in Deal, Kent, before losing consciousness due to the cold.
The woman, named locally as Bernadette Lee, was found by a dog walker at 7.30am on Sunday morning, and is thought to have been dressed for a night out when she was discovered..."

Very sad story indeed and a reminder of the dangerous side of snowy weather. Thoughts with her family.

What very sad news, a young girl with her whole life ahead of her and to die in such sad circumstances, my heart goes out to her Family and Friends.

Thanks to Dover Harbour Board for sending in some photos yesterday, taken by Port of Dover workers Antigone Cote (first photo) and Andy Rintoul (second photo).
