Part of mr Osbournes speech may have got missed when he stated about the relaxation of the planning laws.
His view is that the planning laws have restricted companies building,
of course the danger of relaxing the laws will be that unwanted buildings will go up all over the district, and local opinion will be even more isolated than it is at present.

Im not sure Keefy...I think this may be a good move. For years people have complained that the planning laws were too restrictive in say one area and less so in another, resulting in needed buildings and developments going elsewhere. Positive interpretation of the laws and a more willingness to build is needed. If we could get rid of NIMBYism in East Kent too it would also help.
No shortage of money or build in London, more flash buildings scraping the skyline up there everyday.

I assume that Reg and Keith will also then object to the jobs improved more relaxed planning will bring...

PAULB;
I fully understand the move in this direction, but part of mr camerons speech on coming into office(and since) on this very subject is that local opinion will get more of a say.
obviously mr osbourne doesn't agree with him.
and mr cameron is now very quiet on the subject(although he has enough problems elsewhere lol)
the planning system hasnt worked well in the past, and both reg and I have pointed out many instances on this

Vic, they are talking about planning.
For too long planning has been about what you know and who you know rather than common sense.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

a few months back it seemed that a planning free for all was on the way then the government said they would be protecting greenfield sites.
there always seems to be plenty of brown field sites that need development, we have enough locally.

I have just seen this strapline on Sky News...
"The Population of the UK expected to grow by 4.4 million by 2020"
where are we going to put them all...phew??

lets try and make sure it is on brown field sites, thats the big concern expressed by some today. We must wherever possible keep green green.
