i have been told that i cannot post any more, rather a pity as it thought they showed our police doing a sterling job.
will have to leave things as they are about illegal fishing.

Stick it all on Facebook Howard, it seems to be ok to post anything on there.
I can see nothing wrong with posting on here unless things are going to court, freedom of speech and all that.

TV, and Newspapers report and televise live images far worse than that Howard so I would just ignore the Police threats.

All of these activities took place in public and are therefore not open to censorship.

If that is so Bern, then why were video tapes confiscated from the general public bystanders during the live export demos?
It certainly wasn't for evidence as there were plenty of police "evidence gatherers" filming.

That is a very good question, Terry........

Miners cams were confiscated as well.

i was told very politely to stop, i think that they were of the opinion that it might make matters worse.
i have to say that they were on the spot in great numbers in no time and quelled matters very quickly.

My first thought Howard was that you may have been pushing your luck with your neighbours!

Blimey Howard, illegal fishing on Belgrave Road, didn't realise the Dour had a tributary up there!
I'm a member of the Bureau of Freelance Photographers and carry the 'blue card' they issue to members which confirms they have taken taken legal counsel and there is no law to stop anyone taking photographs in a public place and no individuals can stop you photographing them in public.
(Just edited out the image of the card from this post as it is copyrighted and being Sunday there's no-one available to say it's OK to use, though I'm sure they wouldn't mine me promoting their activities)
There could however be good reasons to advise you to stop - for your own safety, for example. Or you could be advised not to post as it might prejudice a prosecution - papers and tv often publish pictures or videos to help apprehend a suspect but then those pics aren't used again until after the prosecution.
Howard, I missed the last few posts while I was typing - switch the flash off and put the ISO to max next time!

posted at the same time ray, interesting stuff all down to a bit of common sense and good manners really.
for example many times we see an ambulance draw up somewhere and someone either being treated on the spot or being stretchered into a vehicle.
i would never dream of taking a picture then, however a professional snapper might see it as their duty to provide visual evidence.
a couple were getting on their motor cycle(harley davidson) the other day, i asked permission to take a shot of them and they readily obliged.

howard;
I think ry gives you the answer, but realy may be you should get more clarity from the police.
the police were also active in priory house on the folkestone road recently so they are getting out and about, and do a sterling job in often difficult circumstances, but maybe more clarity would help howard

As Ray says, if an investigation or prosecution is in the offing, they may not wish for images of the individual concerns to be displayed for all to see, especially viewable by local residents on a local forum who may know the individuals concerned. There is also the element of potential victims not necessarily wanting the incident plastered out there for the world to see. However, I think the real reason is likely a knock-on of the riots this week.
The police are probably ultra-sensitive about their media portrayal at the moment and are probably concerned about how the public are perceiving them. They've rightly issued an awful of 'reassuring' statements this week about the lack of trouble in Kent and asked the public not to spread rumours. I think it's just the times rather than the fact that you have done anything wrong...indeed, although you are portraying them in a positive light, for others it's down to interpretation by the reader.
