dispite using the traffic lights at aycliffe, there is chaos along snargate street.the offisial excuse is that due to averse wheather conditions in the channel and p & o are running 1 hour late [only firm that's admitting it]and a lack of police control from limekiln street roundabout to the docks.the port of dover have only 4 yes 4 officers on duty, and all 4 officers are on traffic duty,2 at aycliffe and 2 at the eastern docks entrance.

How come the wonderful traffic lights aren't doing their job ?
Sorry, stupid question, no impending elections...

Control of the lights is yet another task heaped on the overworked shift staff in Terminal Control at the docks. Reports reaching me allege that some shifts are single manned to save costs.

They found the money to give Mr Waggott a hefty pay increase so money can't be that short.

As with so many big businesses being short of money is no reason not to give the hierarchy hefty pay packets while the minions wages are frozen or their departments are left short staffed. KCC, DHB and the NHS being perfect examples.

I wonder if (who knows) when Burlington House starts to come down, the health and safety zealots will try to close one or both lanes - that'll be fun.

I tweeted DHB an hour ago asking why they aren't operating the Aycliffe lights. Since then they have put police at York St but I don't know if the lights are working at Aycliffe.

The 61 bus from the town centre to Aycliffe was as usual rerouted via Military Hill until a car overturned there so the service is suspended.

What Dover needs is a quick bye election and the lights would be on in a day or two. I don't think I have ever seen a more blatant case of electioneering as these traffic lights.People were jokingly commenting about it being an election year, but now the joke has backfired on the public. Be prepared for another four and a half years or so of traffic chaos on the A20.
.....its the year 2020 and the National newspapers are full of pictures of Charlie standing on a stepladder changing the bulbs in the aycliffe lights: headline is 'Charlie says 'No more traffic chaos for my constituents, we've had enough'.
He'll still get the votes.

Chaos again waited 10 min to get into aycliffe no police on roundabouts and traffic queuing through townwall and snargate, lorries and jumping the queues and blocking roundabouts on snargate.
Charlie Paul if you're reading isn't it time you got off your polished arses and sorted this crap out???

How long before there's some direct action this side of the channel - you'd soon see the police and quotes from politicians then.
